Acronyms and the dangers from not knowing what they mean.

lmao. Sorry but that is funny.

I always google an acronym when I come across one I've never seen.

:D:D:D:D You cheered me up. Post of the day!

Come on, this has to be a joke :p

You can't go a week these days without a LGBT story being on the news.

You'd have to live in a pretty isolated cave not to know what it was :p

It's a true story told to make a smile.

I'm sorry if my grammars not great guy's, School was a long time ago. :D

For years I thought this was a problem with the HTML on the web page.

What's HTML...? :) :)

Seriously a couple of others I took a while to work out were Group Four Security now being G4S, then there's GNC the health food place which IMHO (oh no, there's another one) I thought was some sort of private medical service.

Colleague of mine got into hot water when he documented FLK in a patients notes. Parents queried it and he had to try and explain "funny looking kid" to them.

I find it more amusing not knowing what TLAs mean, as there are often several possibilities.
My work colleagues were worried when they heard I played around with RPGs at the weekends... then they thought they'd understood what RPGs actually are... then they got worried when they saw I did actually mean the first one!!

I'm sure you can imagine both mine and my familes dismay to learn that I'd been importing gay porn from America.
Shocking indeed - Why can't you Buy British and keep our people employed?

Nah, this is 'artwork'....
If it turns you on, it's erotica.
If it turns your mate on, it's porn.
If it turns anyone else on, it's filth.

I've noticed PC gamers can only say a few things. ggz, glhf, wp and that is usually all you ever see.

Still does, dunnit?
Then again, I am getting old....

I always thought it was weird branding to use for EVGA and they even light up on their cards.

It means "For The Win", it was part of the Netspeak language that became widespread in the 90's. Others from the same group you may have heard of are LOL, BRB, LMAO, AFK, etc.

I never heard it in the 90s. Heck I don't think I recall hearing it until... 2007/8?

I spent much of my childhood years chatting to people on ICQ and IRC so I came into contact with things like that quite early. Also doing chat roulette when you are 12 or 13 on ICQ teaches you things you probably shouldn't know. ICQ used to be so much fun back in the day.

Even in my days of ICQ 1999 - 2002/3? I never even heard anyone use it either, even Quake players. It wasn't until all the pwnage talk came in then the marketing departments took on FTW and it really kicked off.
