*Activity/Fitness trackers*

If i don't move - then it's accurate. Resting heart is around 52bpm for me - and that is corroborated by a medical electrocardiograph.

If I do any activity, be it walking, gym, cycling, running etc... it thinks I'm doing between 90-110. Whereas I'm closer to 130bpm at the level of intensity I'm after.

After a bout of HIIT, where i'm targeting 150bpm+ it doesn't register.

As for the bubbling? Manufacturing flaw.

Still not sure which tracker to go for, all have positives and negatives.

Garmin vivosmart.
You need to tell it your being active for the HRM to be accurate. Otherwise HR is done periodically which can miss sprints to the bus, running upstairs etc.
Also has a big friggin lump under it which looks uncomfortable to wear.

Fitbit charge HR
Pathetic build quality. Screen not always on.

MS band 2
Seems to have dodgy build quality as well. Crap battery, also does not look comfy to wear.

Well, you're special. Have you looked on Fitbit's forums? If the quality is so good why is it happening to the majority of people?

Majority, how you figured that out? You got the sale numbers and counted number of unique complaints.

Like most things people only post when they have issues. Which skews appearance.

Glaucus, I'm glad that yours has been trouble free - but it is a well known, documented fact that they are struggling with build quality. I've had to get mine replaced twice.

Everybody that I know who has had one (about a dozen people) have had to have theirs replaced.

Sure, there are millions sold, but there are enough cases for it to be brought to question - and they are replacing for free.

Personally, I would go for something simpler with sleep, and step tracking, and then use a chest strap for exercising.

Did you miss I own one, and not one bubble on band. Great build quality

Why have you got this on the list?

The charge 2 Looks promising. I like the looks and the os seems spot on for me but. You can't ignore the multiple postings of naff build quality in Fitbits.
Seems there answer is to have changeable straps. The way the straps are connected though seems like it could also be troublesome.

They may have address the QC issues in the charge 2.

I'm speaking to Fitbit to see if I can negotiate a discounted version to give it a go. IF it doesn't survive I will look elsewhere. It's just a shame it doesn't allow integration of chest straps :(

Its not a solution, its what they used to do in older fitbits, if anything its going back to their old style.
On the old ones the changeable straps where fine and it looks similar on charge2.

Personally I would wait and see what ms band 3 is like. As long as they announce it next month and not wait till spring.

Another thing which should be pretty common in these band's is a decent WR rating.

One of the reasons I'm probably going to opt for the Garmin vivosmart HR. The only thing that's bugging me about it is the HR monitoring is only every 5mins when not in 'active' mode. If it were constant monitoring I would have it on my wrist already.

Got me a Samsung gear fit 2 on the way. Didn't really want anything with a fancy screen but the offer of a 2month old one came up for 90quid.

After quite a bit of research there just does not seem to be any activity bands out there that have not got a few faults with them.

The one thing I like the look of with the Samsung is it looks comfortable to wear. No HR sensors sticking out like bricks. A couple of things I'm not too keen on are the clasp and battery life although If I can get 3 days out of it though I'll be happy without using GPS.

Decided to get a fitbit charge 2, it's very early days but so far so good.

Main reason I got a fitbit is pretty much everyone I know family/friends has one and I like the challenge modes you can set for each other.

Update on the Fitbit Charge 2, been using it on my right wrist as I tend to also wear a watch. Developed a rash where the wrist strap is, not sure if it's because I rarely wear anything on the right wrist. Swapped it over to see if I get the same complaint.

Other than that the actual device is really good battery is a good 5-6 days, the HRM seems to be ok for light things i.e. walking, resting haven't really had chance to try it with exercise yet though I am going cycling later so see how that fairs.

Overall i'm happy but if I keep getting this rash and the only remedy is to not wear it then I may have to look elsewhere!
