well i don't know if its just me or there is some more people as i think im addictive to hardware specially for graphic cards, i intend upgrade them all the time now that everyone talking about 3870x2 im craving to upgrade to that even i have 8800gts and i am using 19 " screen.

Im not really bothered about cpu as i have quite good one, ore mob (waiting till x48) for some reason i just like to have one of the best gpu on the market...

is me mad  or its it normal ?

LOL yer, if you like your GPU's basicall, sell 2 weeks before a card launches and buy the new card. You lose next to no money.
Due to the old card price not losing much money.

Easy says he manged to make money. Though i think overal was like 18 quid lol. Usualy on the bay people will keep buying without knowing new cards are about to come out ad will pay high prices. Like the GTS 640mb was selling for like 200 quid just bfore the GT came out.

First I want to apologise for starting a thread with an identical topic without checking first. I went on a rant without thinking. Sorry everyone.

To add to this thread, I've just bought a 8800GTS 512mb without even first selling my HD2900XT (which is in the MM as it happens ;|). I deffinately have an affinity to graphics cards more than any other part of the computer. Sometimes I think about going quadcore, then I realise I would see no benefit whatsoever and I really should start thinking about clocking my E4300 higher than it's current 2.7ghz.

What amkes it worse is that in a few days I'll be out of a job (my choice, handed in my notice) and yet I still just blew £185 on a gfx card :|.

eek.

The last upgrade I will do for a while it seems.

I have a serious problem,im never happy with my rig,im allways looking for the next upgrade and get that obsessed with it i never play the games i built this damn thing for playing:confused:i have given serious thought to selling up and getting the missus a laptop, and i know what your saying with gpu's just can't resist the little beggers:rolleyes:

Oh its normal, I know I shouldnt be changing cards all the time and stuff but its become a bit of a habit :S thing is I always sell on to make the upgrade cost the least ammount possible, just need to try and get the best deal you can at the time!

I want an x2 after seeing it, but I am trying to resist, but then that makes me want to just buy a second HD3870 and crossfire it! I'll be waiting to see what my pay on friday is like but if i manage to resist this time il be surprised!

I've just starting to change my view on this very subject recently. The past few years i've always gone for the bargain cards. I don't mean the **** ones, i mean when they first have a good price cut towards the end of them being high-end. Like the x1950pro 12-18months ago for example. Anyway, each time i've done this i've bought the card for £120-£130 ish and in no time at all it's worth next to nothing and theres a handful of games i want to play but i can't. At the same time my mate as always gone for high-end cards and sold them for 2/3 the price 12 months later. I bet he loses no more (if not less) money on them than i do and he gets to play all the latest games on max all the time. In late 2006 i bought an x1950pro for ~£140 and he bought an 8800gtx for ~£360. He has still got the GTX (a record for him i think) and even though i've gone through 3 cards this past year and a bit he can still play crysis better than me.

Next time i will just buy high-end! 3870 x2 or 9800 maybe

Lol....I thought it was just me that got off looking at graphics cards. It's exactly why I raped my student loan and bought a new X38 motherboard and two brand new HD3870s - even though I already had one perfectly good vanilla 3870 that was giving me excellent frames in everything....which I bought to replace a stalwart 8800GTS 320mb that had nothing wrong with it.....

I just stare at my CrossFire setup and feel happy in my total nerdiness.

I think you need help :p

I consider my self the avid gamer. But getting off to graphics cards, tahts in a relm of geekyness i hope i never go! lol.

Is there a graphics card lovers anonymous? where we can all sit around and drink coffee and discuss how we broke away from this self-destructive upgrade cycle?

I think it's time to draw a line here and say ENOUGH it is getting to the point where you can only keep a card for 2 or 3 months without making a huge loss.
Hopefully this new card will be a power hungry Volcano priced at £250 but only offering 10-20 fps more than an 8800 gts 512.
I am more tempted to dump my gt for a gts though but people are asking more delievered than i can get a brand new one delivered in the mm.

I'm addicted to oxygen but love to play around and learn about everything inside the PC. I do admit that since learning about overclocking/benching that my gaming has took a MASSIVE hit :(.

Need to get back to killing again. The only time I'm truly happy when on the ol' comp :).

I agree with C64 ^^^

Im the proud (read mug) owner of a x1900xt-x that cost about £329 iirc
around 18months ago, love the hardware but hate how quick it loses value, how great it runs games like Crysis (all 16fps of it LoL) and to add insult to injury i'm looking at gfx cards again  AArrrggghhh!

18months Is a decent time though the Gt has pratically halved in resale value in 2 months which is plain daft.
