addictive to hardware !?

Im addicted to fiddling with hardware more than actually buying it. I bought my main PC in January last year, and then a major upgrade jan this year. In the mean time however I fiddled with Media PCs, servers, installed countless Vista versions, tweaked things, changes things, got things i didint need. Nothing massive of expensive, just lots of little 'ooh, thats cool' things that wound up not being used. I spent about £100 on bits for converting my old PC to a media machine over about 3 months, never got it working, gave up, and now its sitting waiting to become a server...

I dont have the money to upgrade/swap out parts often

18months Is a decent time though the Gt has pratically halved in resale value in 2 months which is plain daft.

anyone who bougth the GT and didn't expect massive drops in price is kidding them selves. The premiums were very high and there was the GTS and new ATI and NVIDA cards coming round the corner which we all knew had to happen some time. Also there is the fact the GTX came down in price which ment it was moer tempting, especialy for 24" gaming so then people want GTX's over th GTs and that push's them down further again.

I have a serious problem,im never happy with my rig,im allways looking for the next upgrade and get that obsessed with it i never play the games i built this damn thing for playing:confused:i have given serious thought to selling up and getting the missus a laptop, and i know what your saying with gpu's just can't resist the little beggers:rolleyes:

me too, i bought this rig in september/october. but already i am wondering if in march i might get a new 9000 series gpu of even a q9750 cpu or ddr3 ram and a 790i mobo, it is addictive, expensive hobby lol

How old are you lot? Surely you have something better to spend your money on then garphics cards you dont really need for anything except crysis. There is more to life then getting a boner over putting a new graphics card in your pc and running many benchmarks. Perhaps you should explore the world outside your pc room! lol.

Id only get a 9800 if i actually needed it to run ngames on a 24" like id want to. But i wouldn't buy one for at least 5/6 months after it comes out prbobably.

Being a student who just sold a company, i like to keep my gadgets up to date ;)

I like technology and it always nice to be up to date. I tend to get stuff for the PC quite frequently since the PC has to do well both in games and while using Photoshop and various other design proggies. Offcourse, sa said while upgrading your PC might be nice there is a limit to the amount of cash i am willing to spend on it since cash doesn't grow on trees ( unless you are Bill Gates ). Doing a bit of research for what you buy and getting a good performance for your money it always in my mind when i am making a purchase. As 8igdave said you should also try spending your money on more meaningful stuff like beer and materiliazing your evil plans of seducing members of the opposite sex since they are not as smart of you since you were into computers and they were playing with Barbies....sinister laughter.

Dont be stupid... why would they bother seducing the oposit sex when they have a graphics card right infront of them?

Yeah, the old method of crossfire with the big long dongle really got me going, oh yeah.

I was planning on getting a laptop, too.

The damn suckers are expensive, though. :(

Is this so that you can adventure into the open world but still remain attached to the pc lol :p I gues its a start. Should set up some pheripy classes.... o my im gona need help on that word lol. Pherapy?

PC + Therapy, obviously.

P(-c, -t)herapy.

Pherapy. :p

Thing is I fear I'll get the upgrade bug for notebook CPUs and such... That means I'll have to get a smaller screwdriver.

In realistic terms though, a cheapo notebook'd be lovely for doing work on the bus to college and such.

what sort of company? i hope its not graphics card porn but i do recon there is a gap in the market for it lol :p

Is this too far?
