Adding a second monitor to my setup .

Hi,

i have the following monitor MG279Q ROG Dominator 27" 2560x1440 IPS FREESYNC 144Hz
i run freesync between 35 and 90 hz .

I am looking for a second monitor to run in portrait mode does anyone have any advice on what to look for ?
Also having a second monitor with a different resolution and hz would this effect my main screen in anyway ?

Second screen can be any resolution/refresh you like, assuming you're extending the desktop rather than mirroring it. Though as was pointed out here: https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/posts/30853268 Freesync requires full-screen mode rather than windowed, so you may find it more annoying to switch back and forth than you expect :/

Many Dell screens have rotate, but they won't be particularly cheap. What size are you looking for? I use a couple of old 17s in portrait mode, and they make good size panels for a 24-27 centre screen.

sorry i am a little confused at the windowed mode comment , my main monitor will always run at fullscreen , i basically want a second screen so while i am in game i can have steam and discord on the other screen so i don't have to keep tabbing in
and out of game to send steam or discord messages , regarding size i was looking at around 20" but now that you have mentioned 17" i will look into this .

I suggest one of the 24" 1200p monitors (I have a Dell 1200p as my LH portrait monitor). If you've the budget and a DP 1.2+ port, then Dell's 24" 4K is wonderful (I'm using one as such right now as my RH portrait monitor). Remember that the monitor will be in portrait mode, so will be much slimmer than you expect.
