Yes, but they made a mistake, people are human and it happens. Everyone is too quick to take things personally and get massively offended over what is a genuine mistake.
Congrats, you survived the site of an infamous terrorist attack!
How can that not be offensive?
There's no evidence it was a genuine mistake, I'm pretty sure as an American when you think of the Boston marathon, that attack comes straight to the front of your mind, the wording seems pretty evident they knew what they were doing.
I mean people sometimes die of heart attacks during marathons, it just seems a weird way to congratulate runners when so many other phrases could have been used instead.
It's referring to a marathon that just a few years ago was subject to a horrendous attack that killed people and is still subject to heightened security. Different phrasing really isn't hard to come by...Because it's referring to one of the world's most grueling marathons and most people are smart enough to see that and not be offended?
They've put out a press release apologising for the mistake. You can't seriously think that it was intentionally sent out like that as an actual reference to the bombing?

Has the London marathon been subject to an event where survival was an issue? So It's OK to survive the London Marathon, but not the Boston one?
I also agree that people are too easily offended, but this is not acceptable. It's almost poking fun at a tragic terrorist incident which claimed the lives of men, women and children.
