Just got of the phone with my insurance company as the T4 is up for renewal and they were quoting just over £500. I thought I would phone them as Ive been getting other qoutes for £370(inc my SP50 but ill come to that) and would see if they would match the price.

They went through my details and it turns out I didnt notify them when I recieved a speeding ticket in Nov2004(last year I just let the policy automatically renew). They then tell me that I should have notified them(I know its my fault but I thought I had) and that even though the policy ends in three days I now have to back pay £161 pounds for the endorsement this year and the bill will be with me in a couple of days.

I cant believe they charge that much for a speeding ticket when other insurance companies dont load the premium for the first three points from speeding.

Dont know why im posting this on here and I know its my fault they werent notified but its put a real downer on my night tonight

Doesn't the Admiral policy document say that you don't need to inform them of speeding tickets until renewal?

I'm almost certain it does? Seems odd.

And £161 seems insane, I was charged an extra £60 for mine and I'm younger than you.

I dont know if thats right but if it is the problem could be I just let it all renew last year and didnt talk to them or anything they just rebilled my card automatically. I didnt even think about the ticket as I thought i had already told them. If Id just moved policy this year instead of try to price match i wouldnt have to pay it.

Elephant, who are part of the Admiral group, state that it isn't mandatory to inform them of any convictions until renewal. I called when I got my points to let them know just to be safe and they added it to the policy and sent me out a new certificate with the details on it, but they didn't charge any extra.

I think they have you by the balls so to speak because when your insurance was renewed they will have sent you a new insurance certificate and policy schedule. I know that on my insurance documents from Admiral my SP50 is listed.

They will turn round and say if you received a new policy schedule and didn't notify them that the conviction wasn't on there then it is your fault.
