Advent Vega?

I would be curious to know how these things last as from my experience Advent produce cheap crap that barely lasts longer than the years warranty.

Damn, i sold mine after a few days didnt think id really miss it but i do, for £203 thats a bargain, is that inc vat?

I have a business account so i should be ok there

That's including vat yep:)

As for the comment above, I really don't know. I didn't realise advent had that problem?

The good news is that the vega is not made by advent, they buy the generic tablet from wherever in china made to their configuration, flash it with their firmware and sell it to us. There are at least 3 other vega clones around, one I believe is the viewsonic 10s.

Haven't asked at Modaco no, I'm going to continue playing and see where I get. Possibly an app I'm downloading that it simply doesn't like?

Still love it though and still think I've made the right choice :).

I have a few CBT Nugget training videos which are located within folders run from an index.hta file. They open in a web browser and contain flash videos. Does anyone know if they would run on the vega?

This would be very useful for me

Thanks

Seems to be another link for it at £200.

Can't tell the difference between that and the £250 one ?

Also I'm not sure if I want to commit to this as mobile/pad tech is churning at a very high rate. 4 months and this is already old.

Anyone know if you can put honeycomb on the advent ? Cheers

i've always flashed clockwork when flashing the base rom, if you unzip the 1.09 full system image then copy recovery.img from r4-vega-recovery.zip to the 1.09 folder then flash it.

The Advent Vega is now £200!

I was close to buying a Vega for £250, then Samsung released a £300 Galaxy which was only £50 more than the Vega..now the Vega is £200..so now I'm back to where I started almost.

£200 Vega vs £300 Galaxy..which to choose..

Where?
I might buy a second one for that price.

Oh and the £300 Galaxy is only 7".
Size matters.

From one of the retailers similar to the shop with purple shirts.

I've also heard that a supermarket were selling the Galaxy Tab 3G version for £299 but are sold out now..damn.

So many bargains and tablets to choose from, I'm lost haha.

Vega (£200) vs Galaxy (£300) vs Acer Aspire Iconia A100 (£300)

The Vega might stay at £200 in response to the £300 Galaxy tab I think.

Nope you can buy it for £200 on their website, I'm not talking about the purple shirt shop though, one of their family stores.

There is also a shop selling the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3G version for £299 which is tempting.

Oh ah :)

I know you're tempted by the Galaxy (I have the phone and it's awesome) but the 7" screen would put me off.

The Advent Vega should get Honeycomb 3.0, but I suspect it will be done by community first, the Vega shares a lot common architecture (NVIDIA Tegra T20) with the Xoom, so porting across should not be difficult.
Having owned the Vega for a few weeks now, I am impressed but future updates could really enhance it even further.

Yeah I've been doing the odd bit of research for weeks and it came down to the Vega or a netbook, but now that the Galaxy Tab is £299 even with 3G it's making it a tough choice.

If the Galaxy was 10.1 inch like the Vega it would be better but I'm worried that the 7 inch screen might not be suitable for watching tv shows & films on the train/car or showing people video clips.

So if anyone can give me some personal experiences with either of the two tablets that would be great haha.

Is this like the Orange SanFrancisco of the tablets world? Pretty rubbish when you buy it but when personalised (rom, root etc) it becomes awesome?

^^^^ Pretty much, yes. The only downside is the screen, and for single person use it's fine (or even someone sitting next to you).

cool. I think im gonna pick one up as its only £200 now. I want to use it mainly for watching TV programs (divx mainly)
