Advice for 3440 x 1440 Resolution Gaming

As a Dell 34" Curved user I have not had any issues running 2 x 290 xfire. :)

Both cpu and gpu's are watercooled in one loop (triple + single rad).

If you are gaming at 3440 x 1440 do not see any need for 8gb ram as 4 appears more than enough. (Maybe new games will prove more difficult?)

If i were buying today to game at this res. I would wait to see what 'fury' has to offer and its price as one may be more than enough :) - if not I would go for my or a similar set up. (I am not looking to change - will wait for next gen/14nm and 2017 at earliest)

Guys is it worth getting two 390x in crossfire or should I just get the 980 ti? I have tried to get the 980 ti 3 times now and they ran out of stock! I will be watercooling them so heat isnt an issue.

Were it not for my lack of faith in Crossfire (based on the consensus of other user's accounts), I would have said definitely 390X crossfire.

A single 980 Ti that's heavily overclocked through watercooling will give you high/ultra settings in most AAA titles with basic AA for a super solid 60 FPS with minimal/no drops.

Pulled the trigger and gone with the 390x crossfir- i mean gtx 980 ti and loving the performance. Its a beast all right but is it worth getting a 2nd one for sli? I have the Zotac AMP and its great.

I'm using Dell's curved 3440x1440 monitor and recently got a 980Ti, really pleased so far. I'm currently playing The Witcher 3 and have all the settings at Ultra and have HairWorks on and it plays very fluidly with no noticeable frame rate drops yet (not got FPS on screen as find it distracting so relying on what I can perceive). And I can add another in the future for more demanding games (or just drop the settings of course).

I have the same screen and its great. Just wondering if it is worth getting another 980 ti to is worth the cost.

A second 980 Ti enables me to use more sophisticated AA with ultra settings, as opposed to ultra/high and basic AA with one 980 Ti. You can also use Hairworks which is usually too taxing for any one GPU.

I think the value of a second card goes up exponentially with G-Sync, where maxing out some games results in 50 FPS+ and is perfectly playable, whereas on the non G-Sync 21:9s we currently have, you're really aiming for 60 FPS constant to avoid tearing and stutter.

2x 980 Ti is worth it though, especially if that insane £500 deal for the Zotac is still going. You can rest easy in the knowledge that any title in the next year or so will be handled with relative ease.

Thanks for your advice unfortunetly the Zotac deal is gone :(. Is tearing related to fps? Cos i notice some tearing which is not too bad but slightly annoying.
