So below is my current setup just in case you're curious what I'll be upgrading from

Windows 7 64b
Gigabyte H55M-UD2H
Intel Core i3 530 2.93GHz @ 4.00 GHz
Nvidia GeForce GTX 260 896MB
XFX EasyRail Pro 450W
4GB DDR 3 RAM

I'll be buying a bundle from OcUK and I'm mostly unsure of the differences of the two below;

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-157-OE&groupid=43&catid=2512&subcat=2513

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-159-OE&groupid=43&catid=2512&subcat=2513

It's essentially an i5 4670k vs an i7 4770k I believe; assuming there's no real practical difference between the motherboards in relation to my usage as the other specs are the same other than the cooler (also very minor difference I'm assuming)

So as for what I'll be using the system for is mostly just gaming, largely MMO's (Wildstar!) which are typically CPU heavy in what will be 40 man raiding with a lot of **** going on, which had me questioning whether the i7 was worth the price difference, as I've not found solid evidence either way.

Thus far it seems the general opinion though is that for gaming and the occasional game recording I'll be fine with the i5, it's certainly nicer on my wallet so don't want to go the i7 route unless we're talking running at a hypothetical 60 FPS in a raid situation with the i7 compared to running at 40 FPS with the i5

EDIT: Update

Have decided on:

MSI Radeon R9 280X Gaming Edition OC 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Intel Core i5-4670K 3.40GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor
Seasonic G series 550w '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply

For the remaining stuff I need to purchase (ram, mobo, air cooler) I'm unsure what to go with, all I know is I want ddr3 ram and sata3 port on the mobo :p

The more expensive option has a much better motherboard and CPU.

The 4770k will last longer as well before it'll need to be upgraded.

If you can afford the i7 then go for that one as you never know, you might need it in the future.

If buy the parts yourself instead of in a bundle you can get better components for a price in between the two bundles you listed - and get two free games with the CPU:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i7-4770K 3.50GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor - Retail £245.99
1 x Gigabyte G1.Sniper Z87 Intel Z87 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard £119.99
1 x TeamGroup Xtreem LV 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-21300C11 2666MHz Dual Channel Kit (TXD38G2666HC11CDC01) £69.95
1 x Alpenföhn Matterhorn Pure Edition CPU Cooler £29.99
Total : £475.51 (includes shipping : £8.00).

Quite how much more performance you'll get from an i7 over an i5 is debateable, but if you're playing and recording CPU-heavy games now, any gap is likely to get wider as developers make better use of multiple cores. The i7 is at a good price at the moment and would probably get my vote, unless it takes away money that would otherwise be spent on a better GPU.

Speaking of GPUs, get the 270X over the 660.

Here it is all together:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i7-4770K 3.50GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor - Retail £245.99
1 x MSI Radeon R9 270X Gaming Edition OC 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £155.99
1 x Gigabyte G1.Sniper Z87 Intel Z87 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard £119.99
1 x TeamGroup Xtreem LV 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-21300C11 2666MHz Dual Channel Kit (TXD38G2666HC11CDC01) £69.95
1 x SuperFlower Golden Green HX 550W "80 Plus Gold" Power Supply - Black £53.99
1 x Alpenföhn Matterhorn Pure Edition CPU Cooler £29.99
Total : £685.49 (includes shipping : £8.00).

If I was buying right now I'd ditch the i7 for an i5 and get the MSI 280X on Today Only at £220.

Okay so I decided to go the i5 route and grab that you mentioned, was advise it's great value for money and worth it when comparing i5 to i7 at the same time as 660 to 280X and keeping +- the same budget, so below would be my specs thus far (need advice on RAM/Mobo/Air cooler)

MSI Radeon R9 280X Gaming Edition OC 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Intel Core i5-4670K 3.40GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor
Seasonic G series 550w '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply

GPU Problems

Hey Guys can you help me out i just finished of my new PC and its been running sorta ok but crashes when stressed visualy for two or so days but i have a r9 270X and it needs 2X6 pin power powered through 4 pin two Molexs trouble is this means i need 4 Molex sockets but i don't have 4 only 3. Question is should i get a new PSU or just use a Molex splitter. PS my PSU is 500w

Can you put this in a new thread?

Ill give it a go now..

Doesn't you're PSU have any 6 pin connectors on it?

If that is the case, you SPU needs replacing. Running you GPU off molex/ 6pin adaptors solely is a bit silly.

That is exactly why its crashing, not enough power to the gPU.

What is your current PSU?

Seems quite a common motherboard choice the one Fulax has in his two builds (thanks for those btw, helped with some other decisions) guess that's the one I should be getting? The Gigabyte G1.Sniper Z87 Intel Z87 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard

As for the PSU I'd like the one I posted already, found great reviews on it and like the fact that it's modular.

Also wondering, should I buy thermal paste or is what is already applied by default just fine?

As for my case, I have no idea. I'll take some photos and upload em soon!

Edit: Although, likely going for this motherboard, being the same chipset as the Sniper since it only has 1 less pci slot and less usb ports which I won't use anyway; http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-438-GI

So here's my case, it's quite old (8 years?) but wasn't cheap at the time however it was a gift and I have no idea what make/model/etc it is, if someone knows I'd be curious :)

Hopefully it's okay, as don't really want to replace it, even though the front is broken off! :p

That's an Artic Freezer 7 Pro I think it's called, I'm wanting a new cooler as that has two plastic pin thingies missing and isn't secure due to that + it's really old anyhow, also be replacing that PSU as 450w is pushing it for the card and have had problems with it in the past and yup the SSD is lazily placed as I intended to rebuild properly later, aka soon here ^^

So it would be that with the 280x which I already purchased, I wouldn't ever run crossfire so the motherboard is fine and plenty of USB ports for me. All in all solidly within my budget. Thoughts?
