Advice on Gaming PC build for streaming

Hi there,

I'm completely new to the world of gaming PC's so my knowledge is essentially 0. I have a budget of around £1,400 but would ideally like to spend max £1,200 if possible! I'm wondering if anyone can help recommend a build for a PC which can be used for both gaming - mostly Football Manager & Warzone - and streaming. I have a MSI MAG241C monitor already, any help would be massively appreciated as I have no idea what to look out for and what to avoid :)

Thanks!

Are you building the PC yourself? I'd recommended it if you're comfortable and want best performance for your money :p

Also to save £100 you should buy the Windows 10 key yourself for £5-10 either from a game key site or famous auction site. You just download it to a USB stick, then install it when the system is built.

Do you need WiFi? Do you want RGB/lights on the case/parts at all? Or are you happy with a non-bling and minimalistic case?

But you can definitely get a decent system with that budget. I'll put a suggestion up when I know the above ^^

Are you able to have your PC wired to the router? That's always best and most reliable connection to have if you can.

But if not physically possible dependent where you place the PC in your house, you may need WiFi? :p

So are you happy building the PC yourself too?

I won't be able to have it wired so Wifi will probably need to be an option! I think I'm gonna get it built for me just to be on the safe side, I haven't built one before so for my first one I don't want to take the risk haha

Ideally I'd go for this system... 3700X for the extra CPU grunt to both game/stream simultaneously. Nvidia GPU as you'll take advantage and appreciate NVENC (encoder for OBS) when streaming too.

Motherboard has WiFi built in, with VRMs identical to the B450 Tomahawk which is well reviewed. 1TB NVMe should be ample to start with. Case has decent airflow and 4 fans which is nice.

You'd have to post in the customer service subforum here and ask ocuk to quote for a build if you want them to do it. they usually charge around £100 on top.

then buy windows yourself for £5-10 and install it when system arrives.

edit: if you wanna keep it a bit lower on budget, if you don’t think you’ll stream all that much you could drop the cpu to the 3600.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,230.90 (includes shipping: £0.00)

Of course, you don't need a higher resolution monitor unless you want one. Your current MSI one is a pretty decent 1080p display, nothing wrong it at all!

The GPU is pretty beefy so it'll basically ensure you have 100+ fps average in a game like COD Warzone running max settings @ 1080p. Which also means it'll allow your high refresh rate monitor to work more effectively. :)

Hey,

The best bet - 12-core + DDR4 3600 + X570 board + RX 5600 XT, so new generation of graphics cards is just behind the corner, you can sell this one and buy much faster:

EDIT:

You need another case:

Total: £75.05 (includes shipping: £11.10)

Ignore @4K8KW10 - he's an absolute idiot (I'm starting to think he's a troll tbh) round these parts of the forum. He likes to suggest the most unbalanced and stupid parts going.
  • ATX board will not fit in the mATX case you copied from my build
  • Overpowered CPU that will not help with gaming
  • 5600 XT is much less powerful than the 2070 Super GPU
  • Budget X570 motherboard, won't do anything better than the £50 cheaper one I suggested
  • Slower and half the capacity SSD of what I suggested
  • Extra WiFi adapter, mobo I suggested has it built in
  • Copied same PSU and the wrong case because he's an idiot as mentioned
Do I have to go on? You really need to stop recommending builds, you are clueless.

Do you have any actual source or explanation, to back up your 'the best bet' remark for that god awful build?

Agree with the above - quality balanced spec and CPU has more than enough grunt and on parity with cores/threads with new gen of consoles - so no need for more.

The only alternative you could consider to save more money is swapping the 2070 Super for the 5700XT. Still more than capable, coupled with your 1080p monitor and you could ask OcUK to price match on the GPU (as they would be building) and could bring the card close to £350 - getting you pretty close to your ideal budget of £1200 if needed. They are open to price comparisons when doing a complete build...

I would've gone 5700 XT to keep the cost down a little more, but the OP wants to stream so Nvidia is a no-brainer as he'll be able to use NVENC.

Unless he wasn't too concerned about the streaming aspect - then to really keep costs down I'd fully agree and go 5700 XT + drop CPU to 3600.

But if he really wants to stream and not take a knock on his gaming performance, 3700X + 2070S is a great combo.

Thanks for your help with this guys, I'm completely clueless with stuff like this so didn't want to spend that much money on something which wouldn't work or could be massively improved, cheers for your help I've been struggling to know what are the best options

You are an idiot, mate.
1st point - I was polite enough to include your wrong choice which I fixed in a few munites;
2nd point - streaming requires cores - the more the better no matter how you deny it - again you are wrong;
3rd point - I said buy the RX 5600 XT and if it's not enough, buy a new generation GPU that is due in several weeks later;
4th point - X570 enables PCIe 4.0 and more and faster USB ports;
5th point - SSD don't matter for games - he will have spare PCIe 4.0 slots to include a proper SSD next later;
5th point - extra WiFi adapter is welcome - there is a reason why they sell them;
6th point - you are a troll and deserve a ban.

Sadly some folk think they are helping but are not. AFAIK they've only ever had a laptop not a desktop PC, and don't have any hands on experience building actual computers for actual users, just theoretical knowledge from YouTube and web articles. Pretty dangerous for newbies, who will blindly accept someones opinion as a fact.

I can't even be bothered to reply to 4K's absolute rubbish, everything he says makes no sense and has zero logic - not sure if it's a mental health issue potentially, either way - I'm out.

I'll only be posting here again to help the OP if he needs it. :)

I’m not sure TBH, apart from the awful case and PSU, 4K8K build makes some sense. If you mod the 5600XT you get a 5700 for £250 and opens up a meaningful upgrade on the CPU.
