Advice on getting rid

What do I do with my private plate ? Do I just retain it online and the old plate goes back on ?

The DVLA will issue a plate to the car when you put the private plate on retention. This may or may not be the old plate.

I just then take the retention form to the dealer for putting on brand new car?

The problem with WBAC is, if they have offered you £300 blind - then when they see it - expect them to amend that offer down to about £20. They are, and will be brutal.

I have a firm belief that most driveable(ish) cars will sell for near enough £500 on ebay, which has held true for the last 3/4 sheds I have sold for my dad, including a Jag with a hole through one cylinder. Almost every time it has been a chap from the eastern block. One guy i was speaking to said, he does the minimum required work and then takes the car back home to sell. Apparently even a shagged BMW/VW/Volvo/Jag will catch 1-2k in Latvia. Not sure how true it all is, but he still texts me every now and then asking if I have any old cars

Very true about WBAC and indeed the Eastern European countries, I work with a lot of Eastern European drivers and a few have a profitable sideline in buying shagged out BMW's and Mercs and sending them back home (usually cut up in a container) for parts.

They reuse everything over there, when I sold my old 530i after its engine and gearbox died the purchaser (who was shipping it to Romania iirc) was more interested in the fact it had recent discs and pads all round than bothered about the engine being dead, yes, second hand brake pads have value to these guys!

Ive now got the updated V5 back and took my private plate off

Put it on FB local buy and sell tonight for £1500 and have been offered £1000

Someone offered £1000.0 take it! I have seen load of E46’s worse than that, the wings just rot away. I sold mine a few years ago when the first bubbles started to through.
