Advice on haggling

If you make enough money at the airport to buy a car like that tell the other bunch to stick it, not worth the bother surely!

I've been able to save up enough to buy it from working at my employer not from working with my Dad. This is coming from what I saved to purchase a new car. The airport work simply allows me to run it and still have a life. It certainly won't substitute a salary. Plus I enjoy my work.

TBH, a quick look at PH classfieds suggests that price is about right, given the mileage and (apparent) condition.

I reckon he'd take £16k for it (appears he's added the £400 on as "wiggle room") but I'd be suprised if you got much more off.

I don't know how flexible your finances are, but could you not stretch to a a VXR8?

Well even if it cost the same to run I'd still take Monaro :p it's a car I've always wanted and aimed to own.

It's not as bad for me as I've made out. I can easily fully disengadge the clutch it was just a slight stretch which would grow tiresome in heavy traffic.

My sister was in an accident a few years ago - she was shunted from behind while waiting to turn off an A road - she could only just reach the pedals properly, and as such had her left knee "locked out" on the clutch. She's now got serious back problems, and one leg slightly shorter than the other, I'd seriously advise against getting a car you can't effectively operate the clutch on.

The key to haggling is low balling.

Obviously don't take the mick and offer peanuts, but start on a figure that is ever so slightly insulting and work your way up from there. No seller who wants to make a deal is going to tell you to get lost, and if they do then walk as a matter of principal. You might regret it, but there will always be other cars.

Start at about 14k and work your way up then ?

price looks about right to be honest, but if you wanna haggle, just set the ball off with a low figure and go from there!

I've just got in contact with the guy and offered £15500 so we'll see.

You started far too high IMO.

Also I'm guessing that you haven't actually seen the car? Talking about money before seeing it in the metal is always poor form (to me at least).
