Advice Please

Just for comparison you'd probably get more than double the frame rate going from a rx570 to the 1080ti as long as you dont hit a CPU bottleneck

You shouldnt run into power problems with the rm650, but if you do get random crashes, it may be the PSU

(The 1080ti power draw is 230w)

Ok thank you mate, the 2600k is overclocked but only to 4.2ghz so not much.

Simple trick to OC'ing Sandy/Ivy without much effort/hassle:

- Set voltage to 1.35, I'd not bother exceeding this as temps tend to start jumping up and degradation hits in harder the further you go, among other potential issues.
- Don't touch base clock.
- Set multi to get 4.6 and do some stability testing, bump up to 4.7 and then 4.8 etc until you run out of steam, I'd probably just settle at 4.8 if you can actually reach it.

Never known a Sandy or Ivy (Ivy being the refresh) CPU that wouldn't do at least 4.6, just don't try to delid yours if you decide to google about on tips. Believe it or not I have seen that suggested for Sandy-Bridge despite the things having solder between the die and IHS rather than thermal gunk of Ivy-Bridge onward.

1080ti came and seems running into issues even with an overclock, Apex running into issues running on this card with this cpu and setup, tried with no overclock too so like mentioned will likely be power issue. Any cheap powersupplies that I could get to replace the RM650 guys?

Also, any cheap motherboard, cpu and ram bundles worth getting to change the 2600k / z68 v pro/ ram too ?

RM650 is the kind of cheap power supply you buy to replace a RM650 :o

The Phanteks AMP GH is the cheapest one I'd be looking at, at OCUK.

Something like that is the cheapest I'd go (CPU cooler in the box):

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £189.97 (includes delivery: £0.00)

There's one in b-grade you could try making an offer on.

Spending an extra £30 to get the 12400F is highly recommended. Note that the F CPUs do not have integrated graphics.

What issues are you getting?
In the first instance I would try/stress test the 1080ti in your main rig to make sure you haven't been sold a lemon.
Don't forget the 1080ti can be up to 8 years old now if that was an original specimen from 2017.

Just freezing when try run apex which us the game he wanted it for mate, can't load and when it does it crashed, but not like a proper crash, the screen freezes is all. I am sure it's a power issue like was said

Not necessarily so.

I no longer have a main right accessible to test, but the guy who bought this off has 100% feedback out of thousands, and the card runs simple games mate

If the card is on its last legs, simple games may not stress the 1080ti enough for instability to show.
Try running a benchmark (eg heaven) to see if you can replicate the same issues. Though if it crashes, it won't narrow down whether it is the GPU or PSU that's causing the issue.
If it doesn't crash then it may well be some setting within apex/drivers that's causing the issue.

Ok mate, will run heaven in morning when home from work. He did tell me he used this card up until last week andc had no problems, so that's why I thought either a power issue or with me having to over clock the 2600k to run the 1080ti like we talked about, maybe just not stable, but I don't think it's that. I put the rx570 in and apex runs, obviously doesn't need much power in comparison does it
