Advise needed Please

My mate has an HP PC and the hard drive has 2 partitions. One of the partitions has the recovery section in case the PC needs to be put back to factory defaults.

Now, my mate wants to put a new, bigger HD in the PC. He wants to take the old HD out as it is an old slow one.

How can he get it so that he can still do a recovery with the new HD as with the old one? Can he copy the recovery partition over to the the new HD? Would that work and if so how or what is the best way to go about it please? Ta

I think all you can do is create a recovery cd/dvd with the program that hp and compaq provide to do it with (something like NTO backup I think). Then when he put's the new hard drive in, it should just install everything on there as it was on the previous one as it will recognise it's the same machine.
