age of conan or world of warcraft?

Gah, see your compairing two games which are not suppost to play the same.

AoC is not suppost to be like WoW, so a lot you wow players come along and say its crap, simply because its not like wow! Well heres a break through, its not meant to be like wow!

But thats not to say all people who have played wow are against AoC, a lot of them have seen the light and can see what AoC is suppost to be... and they like it, its different.

You say it needs re-working, so its more like wow? Then you would just bash it for being like wow.

The biggest break through in a mmo will be when it gets really hardcore and they start deducting xp when you die. Cant wait to see all the wow player reaction will be then.
When I tried AoC I had been away from WoW for over a year, so it's nothing to do with it not being like WoW, it's the fact it lacks content and feels unpolished.

I say it's crap because...it is crap, not because it's not like Warcraft.

Now you do get items on Aoc and yeah you do get gold, however A: these make no difference in pvp B: the end game epics are barely different to the standard stuff i.e little difference between casual chump and hardcore lifer.
You'd think that'd be a good thing... guess some people just WANT to grind. Fair enough.

Well 1st impressions suggest its a canny game, (AoC) but its full of annoying stuff which is getting right up my nose, like stopping and being blocked by invisible objects, poor graphics, such as cardboard cutout teeth on NPC's, plot seems thin and objects popping up everywhere, this surely shouldn't be happening with a 32GB install!?!?

Putting all that aside, its sucked me in far more than WoW every did. Installed today, level 10 already, it took my the full two week trial of wow to get to that , i just couldn't get into it.

Don't think i will be paying PM for this though, unless something drastic happens later in the game, but its just far too stitched together rather than seemed to be worth paying money monthly for.

AOC is good but the little annoyances are building up for me, my subs won't auto renew as they're not being fixed. The devs are far too busy nerfing classes already and adding in new content whilst leaving a lot of these bugs alone. Last patch went badly wrong, but that's forgivable - happens in all mmos. The game simply doesn't feel polished enough for a final release and I have a feeling a lot of people in beta were probably thinking that.

1. Invisible objects which stop you going somewhere, terrain that's impassible meaning you've got a huge detour when you SHOULD be able to get over it.
2. Mountains - sometimes when jumping on mountains I fall through them, reported this as a bug, response - no intention of working on it, just use /stuck to get back if you haven't died.
3. Transportation - having to travel by suicide is simply stupid, how about some portals to move around?
4. Instancing - far, far too much of it.
5. "rebalancing of classes" test it first please, don't just implement it and hope they're not nerfed into the ground.
6. Feats not working, guildies have a few that do nothing at all.
7. Skill points - what are these for? many seem to do nothing at all, climbing does but concentration does nothing after the first point it seems.
8. Client - needs optimised, it simply SHOULDN'T run like a dog. It's too hit and miss with performance. I can load get 25FPS, log out, restart, get back into the game and get 5FPS in the exact same spot.
9. Guild cities, they're massive and frankly there's nothing and nobody in them PC or NPC.
10. Barren zones, lots of nothingness in some of them or cut/pasting going on.

Sadly I'm still enjoying the game despite these and many more flaws in the game. It's FUN, but it'll only be fun for a little while longer at this rate. I still feel that they should have delayed 4-6months and sorted the client out properly.

My lifetime subs on LOTRO looking more appealing at the moment, although lack of nipples in that game :)

To be fair in 2.4 a lot of gear grinding has been removed. A TON of badges are available. A run of karazhan gets you 24 badges for example.

If your players have skill you can go to some areas under geared - it can be a struggle but we did it a few times. Most important people to have gear is the tank and healers in a lot of fights - now we can "power gear" guildies in karazhan using 1 tank (he tanks even attunmen alone) and 2 good healers and 1 "we are gearing them up" healers.

Badge loot + Zul'aman and Magisters Terrace make gear grinding a lot less difficult, but still a little annoying.

I'm really hoping that WAR lives up to the hype. With WoW I just wish events would have an over all effect on the world.

Rather than the rinse repeat of instances and such like. Obviously that would be hard...but it's what I would like.

I would also like a more up-to-date engine. Yes, I know that would alienate some people, but still :p

When I played AoC I just didn't click with it. Perhaps it was because I was on my own.

Also the engine was nice, just buggy as hell! Yes, it was a beta but it should have been much better that close to launch.

if you have a nice pc then age of conan looks lovely and is very similar to wow. Wow is never going to move on as too many people run it on crap pcs and keep paying. Played wow before - got tired and am loving conan...

except it seems to crash my overclocked pc when nothing else does. have to run at stock for a while :( game has great lighting and draw distance and has only just come out so lots of updates and improvements at the moment. For the record those who played wow at launch and not when it got crazy popular recently will remember that it was way more buggy and unfinished than conan so please bear that in mind. It is very playable right now and will get better in future, i get blue screens maybe once every 2 hours when overclocked and not had one since running at stock. Just like UT2004 used to crash my old overclocked pc when no other program would.

Please tell me your joking

i think he must have smoked something ;)

AoC is still quite buggy / laggy (but its in early release). But wow was just the same.

Give AoC a few months yet.

WoW is a franchise and is therefore more easily recognized, even D&D have streamlined their roleplaying game to feel more like a WoW experience.

It will be very hard to kill of WoW's fanbase.

Well i picked up the WoW Battle Chest when i was out today, so now i have AoC and WoW.

20 quid for that, it was 9 quid for just WoW on its own so i got the pack but it came with the expansion & a strategy guide which maybe will help me, and a thick manual so ill have a short read and perhaps i wont feel so lost like in the demo :p

complete with off the shelf box & some slightly scrumpled things inside.

may aswell have bought it almost 2nd hand like that, thats how i think with some new games i buy :o

Two mmo's! Board up the windows and lock your doors, your not coming out for a long time.

Have you got a poo bucket?

I've played both and I much prefer the combat system in WoW, still waiting for an MMO to rival it, LOTRO and Conan failed. :)

eh? I too have played 70 priest on WoW, 30 priest of mitra on AoC and a 50 BM on Vanguard and tbh the difference between all the games combat for these classes is minimal... i.e. little boxes which activate moves pretty much consitisting of heals nukes cc and snares?

EDIT: You refering to the tedious mellee combat system on AoC? If so I see you point it is sssllllooooooowwwwww and clunky :)
