Age or specification?

Electric memory seats are just great; I'm sure most people in their time have had people drive their cars (garages or friends/family) and you can never quite get the seat 'just right' again.. don't have that problem now :)

My £1800 Vauxhall Omega had electric memory seats. How does it feel knowing that you've just wasted £20,000?

I somehow doubt he bought a BMW M5 purely on the basis that it had electric memory seats. I also doubt an £1800 Omega would have made a credible alternative.

Trying to work out if I've missed the sarcasm in your post or if you've missed it in mine. This is a British forum isn't it?

How do you know my M5 wasn't £1500? :)

Seriously though, I was only replying to somoene's comment that electric memory seats were useless.. alchohol just meant I obviously missed the quote button :)

And to suggest I bought my car for the seats is just stupid; I obviously bought it for the lit vanity mirrors.

Short answer, neither. Doesn't matter how old the car is as long as it's what I want. Specification isn't too high on my list either.

It's the pursuit of a 'new car' that leads to such wonderful companies as Yes Car Credit...

Fox, I would get the newer 530i Sport.

I wouldn't want to miss out on the facelift Sport extras - especially the suspension, bodykit, wheels even little touches like the sills, wheel etc. I love all that stuff even if it isn't ALL usefull.

Also did you mention the engine is of a newer design, i.e. more power (than the 2.8) and i would expect a more refined and economical unit too?

Plus you would not have the hassle of fitting all the Sport parts.

I'm sure you wouldn't miss the TV and satnav too much. Was it any good back in that day and age anyway?!

Anyway thats my performance bias 2p.

(edit: looking at the ebay link you posted, that is tempting. Buying one with the V8 and mods already done would be a good idea. I just wouldn't waste your time/money fitting parts yourself.)

No exhaust looks far better than the foot-long pea shooter on that 540i.

The foot long pea shooter is indeed unusual and it's not how the later Sports look - they do have a single exhuast but it looks like this:

Much smaller. Presumably the guy has fitted a new backbox in moving to the Sport bumper and.... monged it.
