The new Ageia PhysX card is designed for PCI Express x8/x16 slots and is much longer compared to the first incarnation of physics accelerator for personal computers and also has much more complex print-circuit board design. The new board also has external power connector, which indicates that the card has pretty high power consumption.

Interesting - looks like theres an sli/crossfire bridge connector type thing on the top edge of the card, as well as the same ridge/long heatsynk towards the back edge of the card.

Its either a photoshop jobie of a gfx card, or there looks like plans are afoot to allow multiple cards or perhaps intergration with nvidia or ati multicard environments? (or could just be a diagnostic port on a developement card ;) ).

Why do they insist on wasteing their money and development on these things. It's such a simple case of no-one developing for the hardware so no-one is going to buy the hardware. If no-one owns the hardware then no-one is going to develop for it.

it does look incredibly like a photoshopped 7900

If indeed it is real, I'd like to see what it can do.

I was very interested (like many) with PPU's when they first announced it... but the impact it made was minimal at best... and the performance hit you took was just stupid.

I've just checked Ageia's website and can't find any inclination that this is real at all, they haven't mentioned anything about Next-Gen PPU's in their press releases (which seem pretty up-to-date what with recently announcing the UT3 parts etc...)

Nah I reckon that it is real simply because it's the sort of hair brained thing Ageia love to do. "If we didn't make any money off the first one lets make another that uses more power, costs more and does less - that'll get them!!!"

“Q F T - why would you? They can't even utilise one card let alone 2!”
Come off it. Most PPU games get a 30 to 40% performance boost now. Only the first gen games had problems and we moved away from those ages ago. Its time to stop saying stupid stuff about the PPU like lowers FPS. 1 game out of 20 has that problem and it got fixed.

Saying that the above could well be a fake it goes against what we know about it. The PCIE cards are dual slots cards that fit both PCIE and PCI. It has ports on the bottom and top of the card. 2nd Ageia said the PCI-E card is the same as the PCI performance wise.

EDIT:
The PPU is also now used in none gaming products like http://www.newtek.com/lightwave/ slowly its starting to take off.

Check the patch notes out for the newest drivers. Look for the PCI-E reference.
