Looking at a "new" AGP card off the MM and wanted to know which were the last cards to use AGP. Are all the 7000 cards available AGP or am I looking at something like a 6800gt?? I do a lot of video editing and my son plays some games such as Battlefield 2142. My old 9800pro went bang and I've currently got my ancient Ti4200 back in on a temporary basis!

The 3870 and 3850 are the fastest AGP cards, and then the X1950pro.

All of these cards are miles faster than the 6 series :)

Assuming its the setup in your sig, you could just buy a new motherboard, 2gb of ram and a decent pci-express graphics card for the same price as an agp 3850 (dont think there is an agp 3870 version)

Good replies!

[ZiiP] you've just saved me about £200. It never occured to me to keep my old case, PSU, DVDD and HDD

My current PC is about 5 years old now, but everything is great condition. Just gonna put a few more fans in the case and keep the old HDD, DVDD & PSU

Thanks! :)

I've recently upgraded to 2gb of Corsair ram and find the pc fine for most of my needs. I just thought it might be worth upgrading the current (temporary) ancient Ti4200 card so at least my son can play Battlefield 2142 and maybe speed up my Pinnacle 11 video editing! I was looking at a second hand 68000gt but wondered if anything else a bit more recent might be around for £40ish that would be better than the 6800gt. Seen 7600 series on this forum but not sure about AGP compatability.

Teehee tis alright matey, its what I did for my first major upgrade (P4 3.4ghz, 1gb PC3200 and 7300gt to e8400, PC2-6400 and a 3870xt :))

Although I did then need a new psu, so got a new case with it aswell:rolleyes::D

Depending on what PSU you currently have, you may not need that. Pretty sure that motherboard would work with your P4, if not treat yaself to an e2180 for £45. With that setup you will get a pretty dam decent boost in both games and video editing (especially if you get an e2180 and then overclock it, the things can easily hit 3ghz, and that would be miles faster than a pentium 4)

Geforce 7600GT if you can find one. Low power and heat specs and probably be had for £40ish on MM.

Using one of these on my Nforce2 board with Athlon 3000XP. Not one ounce of trouble.

Plays FS2004, TOCA3 and also runs Autocad and Inventor 3D software.
