Hi guys I recentally brought a corsair force 3 60gb and came to reinstall windows today in the bios I set Ahci not IDE however windows would not install with Ahci enable kept giving an error so thought I would change it when windows is installed I followed the guide on microsofts website. But it won't boot in Ahci mode turn bios back to IDE boots fine. Anyone else had a similar problem?.

Is this what you tried:

You need to apply the "Fix it" here first (assuming you have Vista or W7).

So first run the "Fix it" in the link, restart the PC and go straight into the BIOS, change the Intel controller SATA mode to AHCI, save the changes and the PC will start again and hopefully you'll be using AHCI mode.

You should run the Windows Experience Index afterwards so that Windows fully recognises you have an SSD and should then set it up properly

Ran fix it and no luck still won't boot just has a flashing under score in the top corner I have updated the bios and the SSD to the latest firmware and still nothing.

I have just got an error saying reboot and select proper boot drive :/

in wei i get 7.7 which is still really good and in atto, crystal disk and hd tune i get very close to the review scores (about 10-20mbs off in seq read and write) and windows boots in under 15seconds so if some one dosnt know how to solve it i will just leave it because i have spent all day trying and getting board of it :P im also very supprised how far 60gb gets me i installed win7 all drives and programs (sony vegas, office and photoshop), battlefeild 3 and tf2 and still have just under 20gb to spare :D

humm performance seems to be all over the place now about 100-150mbs off of reviews in atto and crysteldisk mark. and wei has drop from 7.7 to 7.1 (i know its useless but oh well) :/ could really use ahci!! does anyone no any other ways or how to get it to install windows in ahci mode because at the moment windows keeps giving an error says cannot creat windows partion or improper boot device

edit i am using the an asrock p67 Extreme4 motherboard on the latest drivers

thanks essexraptor tried that and still nothing i keep getting reboot and select proper boot device (after changing to ahci in bios . its almost as if the drive dosnt support ahci!. and the peformance of the drive is fluctuating all over the place some times its very fast sometimes its very slow. i have sent an email to corsair technical support to see what they say.

That uses a Marvell driver doesn't it? I'm having Marvell issues, although on an older MB than yours.

I may be trying to teach my gran to suck eggs here, but if you're a desperate for help as me, anything is worth a go. In your bios is there only one setting for sata -> AHCI? On my Asus I changed IDE to AHCI, and also on a separate bios page (power) I enabled ACPI 2.0. Check they're all done.

And also make sure you only have your DVD drive and SSD connected to the MB (remove all HDDs). And check your Bios is a recent enough version.
