Ahhh help please!

Well today I got all my new computer parts from Over clockers.. this is what I got:

I re-used my old hard drive, and old optical drive because they were working fine.

So here's problem, i installed all my new components into the new case, etc. Then I turned it on, and went straight into bios, and set boot priority to:
-DVD Drive
-Hard Drive

Then I put my windows 7 disc which I got for free off my college into the dvd drive, and rebooted my pc. But It wouldn't let me install it because It said windows has been damaged or something like that, then asked if I would like to repair windows or proceed normally, I tried both options but none worked.

For some reason, it keeps trying to boot windows vista I think.
I'm totally baffled and I've tried everything I know! Please help!

You can reformat the HDD without loading windows??
I've just finished re-assembling my old pc after ripped it apart before, and its done a destructive restoaration where its deleted eeverything off my hard drive and reloaded vista. I was going to format my Hard drive now, but theres 2 partitions on there that have been there since I bought this pc from pc world years ago, and I can't delete them :|

@Wazza, I didn't think to format my hard drive until after I took apart my old PC, so it still had my old files and windows vista on it.

@Essex, No I didn't, what does that do?
 
when you install windows 7 it should ask where/which partition you want to install to,it will also give you the option to format the partition
 
ok put your win7 dvd in the drive,at gigabyte splash screen press f12,this will bring up the boot menu,then select your dvd drive and it should boot from that
 
Only thing that happens after I do that is a full black screen with a flashing white cursor that looks like this _ for a few minutes, then it goes back to the screen i've been getting all night which is:
Windows failed to start bla bla bla, either start windows repair or windows normally.

Any other suggestions? :|
 
Also, I don't ever see a splash screen? I've just got to spam the Shortcut to where ever I need to go, i.e. Delete for BIOS, etc.
 
try loading optimized defaults in the bios and just tset to ahci and first boot as dvd drive,if your getting flashing cursor it could be a bios bug,ive seen that a few times

best way would be to try and format the hdd in another pc,cant think what else to try atm
 
had a look at your MB manual

when you select Save and Exit (from the Bios page)

one of the options should be

"Boot Override"

select the device you want to boot from and hit enter then select YES

refer to page 58

That's all I can suggest.... sry .... I'm just dog tired and I've got another 10 hour shift coming my way then a 3 hour drive across country at the end of it :(

If i think of anything else I'll post it soonest :)

Thanks a lot for the help, but nothings worked :( My dad has an IT friend and he's going to take a look at it today and find out what's wrong hopefully!
 
Sounds like the DVD isn't booting.

A little more "messing" with the BIOS settings will probably get things sorted.

You might want to identify which SATA port you have the DVD plugged into and make sure it is enabled (you could also try enabling/disabling AHCI on that port too). However, I suspect that the DVD drive is being recognised by the board/bios if it being listed after you try the "F12" trick, so there is the possibilty that your Win 7 disc is faulty.

You can download a full copy of a Windows 7 installation disc from Microsoft and burn it to a DVD. You will need the serial number of the installation disc that you currently have, and make sure that you download and burn the same version that you own (32 or 64 bit/premium or ultimate etc).
