So... First impressions are, I like it! the interface is a bit clunky in some respects compared to the 360s, for instance not having a full on screen keyboard layout and having ito use it more like a mobile phone (having to press things multiple times to get the right letter/symbol, you can use a usb keyboard like on the 360 though so not the end of the world).
The online store needs some updates to make it as easy an experience as using Live Marketplace.
Down to the system itself, it's very nice, and quiet! but as all reports have said it attracts dust like a hoover (I'm sure it actually ended up with more dust on it after trying to clean it with a pretty clean duster!).
The demos I downloaded were Motorstorm and F1, Motorstorm was great fun, I was doing quite well until I found the boost button, from there on all I did was fly off cliffs or into rocks at high speed!
F1, I am undecided on this, very fast and smooth but I think the definition on the scenery was lacking compared to motorstorm - seemed a little fuzzy (will check this again) but the cars were very nice, I will play it a little more later as only had a quick few laps.
Resistance, I got this with the system.
Not as detailed as GOW (didn't expect it to be as have seen clips, and read reviews) and not as realistic as COD3, but then again it isn't meant to be. Very smooth, lots going on, looks nice and clear even if the textures aren't as high quality as they could be.
I also downloaded a couple of Blu Ray demos and they ran nicely and looked very good, looking forward to buying some discs to watch!
I am writing this quickly as got some work that needs doing so excuse how bad the mini reviews are, just wanted to give some quick opinions of the system and if it lives up to what I expected.

Got a Wii preordered for the 8th Dec as well along with more 360 games etc, so a busy December for me!

Nice one Simmz MrMagoo etc, pleased for you, its pretty awesome importing a new bit of kit way before everyone else.
I remember driving a 2 hour round trip to buy import games in the good old days before e-tailers, £50 on Wipeout, and £40 on a Scart RGB cable IIRC

I haven't had a chance to try online games yet, sitting at the pc doing some work for the next hour or so.
I will try to join some games a little later and see how things go.
One thing that I was unsure of and pleasantly suprised, Resistance is all in english (as you may of noticed from the mini clip), all text / speech etc even for the Jap version of the game
The Wii will go downstairs in the living room with the main TV as its a more family orientated console, can't really play gears of war etc with the girls around so thats why it's in the bedroom

It's like the PSP in that when you move over the icon for the demos/game if you wait a few seconds it changes the backdrop and plays music etc for the game.
I like importing things and keeping up to date with consoles, I like most gadgets etc, and years ago (10ish) used to run an import business so always been into imports, and owned nearly every console from the SEGA Master System until now.
It isn't as polished as the 360, but I didn't expect it to be, maybe in time Sony will improve it as Microsoft have done, but in the end if you want the best games you need all the platforms as they all have their own top titles
Almost finished my work now (had a break to dash to the pub for a pint or so) and will go back and play it some more!
