AI (frame generators) DLSS4

Same same. I don't need 4k TV (55" few m away from sofa - couldn't tell a difference between 1080p and 4k!) but it got so affordable (even OLED) that I got one for other features than resolution (HDR etc.).
And same same again, although I find myself playing more Rocket League and FC24 on the 55 inch OLED. I'm limited to 60hz because of the HDMI over Ethernet set up, but it's still pretty damn good.

The closer I sit to a display, the more sensitive I am to refresh rates. So 60hz sitting far away from the telly seems alright.

There's no reason why FG can't be enabled on 30 series cards now, and they've suggested MFG could come to 40 series at some point, so it's just a case of if/when NVIDIA allow it. Guess they need to sell new cards and locking this feature seems to be the only way they can do that, the rasterization improvements are not great based on results available.

More interested in DLSS upscaling improvements atm, looks like a lot of the IQ issues have been fixed..

It's promoting lazy development, and that's the real issue. If I had a choice I wouldn't support it, but it will become mandatory within a generation or two I would guess. I will not be buying any card from Nvidia this gen as I think their marketing and BS terminology is a total scam.

It wont become mandatory if the consumer refuses the buy it. The industry reacts to consumer demand.

The transformer vs CNN stuff for DLSS is a nice improvement. Even the old 3080 here is seeing the benefits. The multi frame gen they're touting is meaningless for my 120hz screen though. Joining the 50 series queue is making less and less sense for me.

So we have more cuda cores than ever, faster ram (gddr7) and a wider bus 512 bit but it would appear these chips/cards can’t generation enough extra frames over the previous gen so we have dlss4 to boost performance

Reviewers seemed skeptical of these features (added latency) but is there really an issue ?

Single player games would benefit wouldn’t they whilst online games might not.

Anyone add to the situation about this
Basically, the "feel" of the game is driven by when you move the mouse or press a key, there is always a delay between the CPU getting this information and building a corresponding frame to show what happened, this is called input lag or latency. Frame generation smooths out the flow of frames so that the image looks less choppy, but it does nothing to improve input lag or latency (in fact it makes it slightly worse). So whilst the image on screen will look a little bit smoother, it won't "feel" any faster. And there seems to be significant issues with the generated frame having artefacts which may also be off-putting.

Yep. After selling my RTX 3080 I've now purchased a used 3080TI (even made a profit lol). Think I'll give the 50 series a miss as well. It's basically a second 40 series refresh.
