You may not have heard of this game, done by an indie developer its a space RTS. The developer is very active with very transparent development strategy for his game and expansions. The actual game appears huge - i'm just working through the demo but on the basis of how active the dev is i'm purchasing it this weekend from impulse (sale for 15$ this weekend)

Demo is good allowing play through of all the tutorials an dan hour in any campaign

I'll post more impressions once I have got through the tutorials .... I maybe some time :)

I've played sins and I don't think so. The premise of the game is that humanity has been all but wiped out and the ai all but controls the rest of the galaxy so you have to retake it. The ai is reportadly one of the best around in terms of emulating intelligence not through scripting.

It also has a twist if you go for trying to grab it all back in one go then the ai responds with huge force but careful surgical attacks will keep the agression down. There is a value displayed that allows you to monitor this. When I first played it was totally overwhelming but I'm slowly going through the tutorials which are very clear and even includes a full campaign which is where I am at. The game is becoming more intuitive as I play more.

I would recommend taking a look at the site as there are some good review links posted which give a flavour. Also grab the demo it's well designed. Finally take a look at the devs blogs and and forum this is a developer who wants to engage the community. I love that. If people do have questions and want to ask away I have no doubt he would be happy to come here and answer.

I've only known about the game for a couple of days but I'm hooked

Hey tals, thanks again for spreading the word about the game -- it's much appreciated, and I'm glad to see you've become such a fan. If anyone has any questions, let me know! (I'm the developer of the game). I'll be off and on sporadically over the weekend, but I'll do my best to answer any questions that come up.

Yeah, I need to do a whole new set of video tutorials, anyway. I have much better video editing software and sound recording software now, and the game has changed a ton since those were made. Added to my list! :)

Yep, just me, except the composer doing the music. The art was all from free sources (mostly Daniel Cook), or stuff I cobbled together myself. More recently, now that the game is actually becoming popular and is having a reasonable amount of income -- not enough to do this fulltime, but getting closer -- I've been reinvesting that in an artist. If you look at the graphics in those video tutorials, versus the graphics now in the game, it's a pretty stark contrast. And we've got lots more planned now, too, our new artist is pretty awesome. :)

I tryed buying it there with my 3v card but it would'nt process my order ,which is weird as I brough the expansion for sins of a solar empire during the week using it

That is very strange -- I don't know what is going on with Impulse. You might try it again, they seemed to be having some sort of technical difficulties for a bit there. But I don't have any details on that, as the publisher they handle all those things themselves.

I'm not sure... Stardock support would have to help with specific payment options and such with their system. I don't have any knowledge or access to that sort of thing, it's completely their system; I'm just the developer, I can only help with problems with the actual game itself, unfortunately. The staff at Stardock is really great, though, so I'm quite confident they can work out whatever the issue is. Not sure what their availability is over the weekend, but they are good people who will try to help you as soon as they are in the office, I'm sure.
