Aim is getting worse in Multiplayer, anyone else?

I find I have periods where my aim goes to **** - weirdly as I was getting close to 40 I noticed a decline in my aim and reaction times but more recently it has been back where it used to be ?!?.

I find Windows 10/11 actually has an impact on my aim consistency over a longer play session as well - the latency and background activity levels of the system just aren't as good as 7 - while it is small it does impact on my aiming.

On CSGO I can maintain MG ranks easily but if I want to push back to Supreme I have to play it like I am 13 with no job or anything else in life and that's not possible at 32.

That and most people think I am a grandpa from how deep my voice is LOL.

39 and well past it here. Used to play Counter Strike and oneshotting good players with the Deagle was no thing. Now I don't bother with multiplayer at all :(
Same boat. Multiplayer died off for me. Cheaters destroyed the last hurrah for me and multiplayer. CSGO.

OLD CS was easy you just had to have your gun aimed at the right height, camp and wait until someone runs into your cursor and shoot :D

Titanfall 2, and at 48, I have come top in many games in 2022! My proudest moment was 30 kills in one session! 1080P and 120 Hz screen works a treat. I prefer online play, because I improve with practice!

Nah, I played on a clan server. AWP was allowed but camping frowned upon (unless playing the objective). Between CS and BF2 was when gaming was at its best

Much better, thanks all!

40 here.
My days of counter strike and playing Unreal Tournament on 175% speed are long gone. And so are the days when i could spend 12 hours + playing them. Its just part of the process, we get older, slightly slower and have less time. Sure there are the occasional "OMFG i just one tapped him mid air 420 no scope", but its very rare now........................................... actually, its really bloody rare.:D

I don't play either, and without looking things up, it fits something I saw a week a two ago about this possibly being to do with micro transactions.
I don't know if micro transactions are planed for or a current part of these two titles, but apparently companies are adding these "features" to make players pay for better shot/hit ratios, be it as equipmant to be purchased, or as stat boosts.
Sounds like this to me, because the description of this not being experienced in other titles seems quite conclusive.

I think age has a part to play in it, I went through the same frustration and gave up in the end. Happier playing single player games these days, more relaxing. I do miss online FPS but I've binned the PC off now and gone console and I'm not playing comptetive FPS with a pad, maybe I'll give it a try at some point to see how it is.
Age has been a huge part of things to me. I remember rail shots in Quake III hitting every time. Now, I struggle in a shooter unless I have a shotgun at close range.

Mine's inconsistent but then it always has been.

I find I tend to play better if I'm in a good place emotionally, and, of course, have practised a bit! :D

CS:Source seems, IMO, to reward better reaction timing than actual crisp, neat accuracy.

If you take too long to sight up an opponent, it's usually game over or you'll come off quite badly injured.

I agree with the comments on reaction times. I play a very fast paced FPS and there are times I will meet an enemy, press fire and find I'm dead before I even got my shot off, sometimes even when I have a small ping advantage over that opponent. My actual aim itself is not bad when considered both subjectively and objectively (endgame accuracy stats).
