Ouch. It's possible with a steady hand to very carefully straighten out the bent pins; I think I remember someone recommending using a mechanical pencil tip to adjust a single pin at a time.
Cleaning the thermal paste of the socket will be a nightmare though. Maybe use a toothpick? Was it conductive paste?
Yah .. the thermal paste somehow managed to get on there from some residue that was left on the metal surround.
Anyway, I started a post about this in a more relevant thread. End result is that I appear to need a new motherboard AND CPU!! I took my CPU to work and dropped it into 2 separate machines that I know work fine, and both showed the same symptoms as my system. Won't even attempt to power up! So it looks like whatever happened to the motherboard has somehow nuked my CPU too! Pretty much sums up my luck!
On the plus side ... I "borrowed" a motherboard and an i5 from work to keep me running until I get something new, and the H100i is doing a great job!! Sitting at least 10-15 degrees cooler than with my (very good) BeQuiet cooler. Although not really a valid comparison with a different CPU and motherboard
