Well I was armed with only a shirt and jeans in the car and it didn't make me shiver on full like it used to

If you've noticed a degredation in performance which its clear you have then yes - regas it. You should be able to make it so cold inside that whatever the weather outside you reach for a jumper, if you cant it needs sorting

You can check how much gas is in the system by connecting up a gauge to low side, if the pressure is between 30 and 45psi then you're fine, anything less means it needs gassing.

Connecting a gauge to the high side will tell you if it's running how it should as well, as long as it's between 225-250psi.

Tom, let me know where you get it done and how much. I'm interested in doing mine aswell. My aircon seems a little warm even tho it's on the coldest setting!

If you just want to check your ac pressure on the low side then use this one, just like checking your tyre pressures!!

Then theres the manifold gauges which allow you check pressures on high and low side and add gas.

It was last done at Acorn Auto Electrics in Middlesborough back in 2005. It was £50 should be a bit cheaper now I'd think.

174k now and cold as ice everytime. Never had a regass from the stamps and reciepts.

but as Lashout UK said americans can build air con it tells me when it needs regassed according to the manual

, the way I look at it if it's cold don't worry about it

Think i need to get my car done aswell, it was never ice cool, but it was cooler than air temp outside, now it seems to make little diff switched on or off an with summer comming i don't want to get stuck to my seat
