Akasa Mirage at OcUK

You know I wouldnt have considered the front of my Eclipse 62 to look fugly, that was not after clicking on Case central ;)

I got mine currently on wheels and leaving it like that, im happy enuff with mine as it is dont feel that a door in the front would be nice I cant make use of the front usbs/X-fi panel or dvddrive without opening the door constantly...

Ill stick with the Eclipse 62, maybe if something else better arrives you never know ;)

It sooooo is. :p

Compare it to a ATCs 201b, 110, Lian Li PC7+, v1000+, any Windy case, the Silverstone TJ's.

It is VERY ugly, while at the same time being the best cooling case, period.

The mirage with a door wont equal the Eclipse for airflow, but for the majority of rigs it will probably be a unoticeable difference. Just the way of the door.

Now, when the proper doored case for 2006 comes out I will be happy, Lian Li S80. :D

Its your fault I looked at the front case twice ! :p

I hope they do a proper next Eclipse, with 2 x 140mm fans front and back and make the case thicker or with sound proof tech, and obviously a decent style/front panel and No Door!

Then were talkin....

Why - with 2 x 120mm Akasa Ambers it's the best low noise/high capacity cooling case on the market. 140mm fans are a marketing tool for companies that can't do a proper job.

Again, to what end? Thicker panels will add weight and expense. It also doesn't need insulation - from sound or heat.

The problem is that style, like beauty, is very much in the eye of the beholder. Yewen likes Lian-li PC-7's. Some people like Thermaltake Xaser's or Vento's. Personally, I don't look at the cases much when I'm using my computers, so a good looking monitor is more important to me than something on the floor.

I'm with you on the door though.

Some people like the eclipse believe it or not lol. Im also with you guys on the door issue, im not a big fan of door's on cases. Saying that as far as doors go the mirage door looks sweet.

I dont mind 120mm fans but I thought 140mm fans would mean better air flow and quieter noise?

The less noise and more air flow the better imo, I just noticed the new Scythe mine heatsink allowing 140mm fan support.

But yeah not quite needed although I would like it :)

Id still like Akasa to add some sound dampening tech maybe not quite making the case thicker or insulation but there is ways... ie hdd cage elastic mounts or grommets or Antecs P180 sound proof dampening panels...

As for door definatly a big no.

I like my Eclipse 62 and yeah I dont look at the front of it im looking at the screen 90% time....

Akasa have no idea on styling...

The Eclipse looked bad, this looks even worse. Whether its made out of aluminium doesnt make a difference to me when it looks like that

True!
I think they went back to the 80's when they designed this. Looks like an old file server from back in the day

I have managed to get a 140mm fan in my eclipse and i have to say it pushes a lot more air and is quieter than the Akasa orange fans for sure. I dont think there are a lot of them about though, the one i have is a Aerocool blue led one and it is very quiet. @ 7v it pwns the akasa but the akasa get better noise wise at 5v but doesnt push as much air at this voltage as the Aerocool. I agree though it is a better idea for them to use the standard 120mm fan blowholes because there are not many 140mm fans about and 120mm are still decent and do a good job. You can always mod 140mm fans in there like i did if you want, thats the great think about the eclipse being so wide.

Every time i look at the pic of the mirage i fall more in love with it, im likeing the look of the front and if it is aluminium its mine  .

Have you not seen the last post list, im catching up with case central.

Both are ugly as hell, yet I would buy both as looks are not everything; I did used to use a Savrow SR-71 guys!

140mm fans if they are done PROPERLY not gaming case gimmic style should be about the same CFM or just slightly more, but at hugely reduced volume levels.

The whole point of going up in fan sizes is to reduce noise without decreasing performance, of course you get companies like Delta making screamers, but that is not the point to the fan size changes.

Well if anyone is interested in modding a 140mm fan into their Eclipse62 then here is a pic of mine. It is easy enough to do you just have to pack the adapter away from the case back by about 6mm, i cut some 6mm rubber out effectively making an airtight seal and also reducing any vibration. A few mill may have to be trimmer off the adapter but this is easily done with a dremel.
