These are on a special deal for the next 48 hours

first of all you need to join massdrop which you can do using the link below

https://www.massdrop.com/r/6HW75F

then search for akg q701 and it's total price is $162.98 USD and that price includes shipping to the UK.

they are currently around £200 here in the UK. even after duty that is a whopping saving

ordered, cheers.

£95.82 is what google says at the current exchange rate.

you won't find a better headphone for gaming period is what I have been told going off reviews from head fi for that price anyway

it's pretty much one of the best for gaming, the only issue is it is very very power hungry and you need a decent amp. the bumps have also been known to be uncomfortable, if they are I am sure I can mod it with some fluffy socks or something lol

http://www.head-fi.org/t/534479/mad...e-4-17-2014-akg-k612-and-k712-pro-added-edits

look down for the Q701 review

edit:

what colour did you go for? I went for lime green which are currently £300 here lol that is a saving of over £200. I'm hoping customs don't catch it but if it does it's still a ridiculous deal.

edit 2:

Just so people know, we're getting low on lime....

that was posted an hour ago on the deal - get your orders in ASAP

I have the Q701 and this is a facking steal. I think the Q701 are one of the best headphones in any proce range.

Slightly warm, nice tone, huge stage and reference level neutral.

I also have Q701 and agree, crazy price!

lol that's why I posted it insane when i saw it. I had to google to see how much it was in pounds as I know the pound is very strong atm against the dollar.

let all your friends know they are about to run out very quickly.

the deal has taken off in Australia, etc too where they have issues getting stuff like this for cheap (much like here) but apparently they haven't had many UK buyers.

they need to be quick though lime is almost all gone and i think black has gone completely

edit:

"Generally correct. Our overview page says:
"Estimated time until product ships: 10 business days after the drop end date."

The drop-end date is Monday June 23rd, and 10 business days after that is July 7th. This is an _estimate_ it's highly dependent on how quickly AKG prepares the shipment (they need to confirm receipt of the wire transfer, pack everything onto skids and then on freight trucks, send it to our warehouse, and then we'll receive it and ship it back out. It's possible we'll get it before July 7th, or after, but that's our best estimate."

long lead time though

Will I pay much duty on these?

http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/customs/post/internet.htm

it won't be much. probably £15-£30

since the value of the goods is 88.15 British Pound Sterling (the price excluding shipping).

customs might not care tbh.

they try and hit stuff worth hundreds of pounds as there is so many packages coming in they cannot hit them all

what colour did you go for?

Black not available so went white. I'll try them out, if don't like them I will easily make the cash back on the bay. If I prefer them over the X1s, they will be going back to amazon.

these won't ship for another 2 weeks (estimated) and delivery times from USA aren't exactly next day neither, then there is clearing customs, etc.

have you already ordered X1's? or have them in your possession?

you should have went for green then - they are £300 on a certain site here, selling them on and making money wouldn't be a problem

Cheers for the link.

These look interesting - https://www.massdrop.com/buy/shure-se535 - anyone own a pair?

No problem.

Serious amount of money to drop on some IEM's I doubt many on here would spend that kind of cash on IEM's. Head Fi and theheadphonelist website should have the info your looking for.

I'm amazed at the range of stuff the site does these mass buy deals on but nothing else really takes my fancy apart from a chefs knife.

Hmm I might get the Filo x3 and the 535se. Should be a good combo from what I've read on head fi.

If you do get the X3 make sure you update the firmware - i think some people have had issues with it.

£100 for it is a brilliant price as well. At least £30-£60 saving to be had there depending on customs.

This website is sure enough going to ruin me. The fiio x3 is in a special deal with limited numbers. So be quick. Only 4 left atm.

just wann make sure my order went through

i have put my card detail in and in my transaction section is says

"Status: Active (ends in 2 days)"

"Payment Status:pending:

is this correct? nothing to be worried about my order has been placed and they will take money out in 2 days correct?

they take the money when it ships from AKG I believe.

The process is Manufacturer -> Massdrop -> Buyer.

So they shall take the money out tomorrow night I believe when the deal ends and they have final numbers for AKG. Over 1200 units have been sold so it's been a very very good deal but this also means the larger the number the slower I imagine the whole process will be.

AKG getting over 1200 units together and then stacking some pallets up to ship to massdrop may take some time. Then Massdrop will need to individually package each one and individually set up delivery arrangements to the end buyer.

So it's a very long lead time. I expect to see mine mid July. If it gets here faster they must have a good team and process in place.

Fantastic price though so I'm willing to wait 3 weeks for it.

Audioengine A5+ Desktop Speaker any good?

They are £330 here in the UK and very highly reviewed.

I would think so for that price

hmm the above or corsair speakers and DAC /amp wish buy the anue t1 or the new anue x1 pro

i have never heard either so i cannot say - read some reviews.

beware the shipping on those speakers internationally is like $115.

therefore I would go for the corsairs personally from the UK.

AUNE T1 is a lot more "fun" as you can tune the sound signature by rolling valves/tubes.

there is a thread on the AUNE T1 on here so you may want to look through that first.

I cannot speak for the X1 pro but I have heard it's good and it works with more inputs (T1 is USB only for DAC or DAC + AMP and RCA only for headphone amp).

I love the T1 - with an upgraded tube the music comes alive.

First I have heard of mass drop.... Can they be trusted?

Otherwise cracking deal

They are very well known. You haven't heard of them because it's a US company and the majority of deals are for US citizens.

Also HUKD doesn't allow foreign sites, it's UK sites only. I posted the deal on there and it was removed stating UK sellers only are allowed. Before then lots of people had liked it and went for it. Some of them were also skeptical but they done their research online and it all came back good.

Head Fi doesn't allow them because sponsors want you to buy direct from them for much more expensive. But you can normally see people say stuff like "I missed out on the drop deal", etc.

They come very well regarded and reviewed. I used paypal and my credit card so I have double protection regardless.

What about warranty?

No idea, I assume it would be with the manufacturer as standard with any product tbh. Send it to AKG's UK or EU headquarters. No point shipping it all the way back to america.

They are £400 RRP headphones, the chances of them breaking or coming broken is very unlikely. Unless of course you mishandle them.

What’s the catch?
Since we operate drops instead of selling products as a retailer, the process takes longer. We have to collect everyone’s money, place the order, receive the product, and then ship it back out to you. Depending on who we’re ordering from, this could take anywhere from 3 days to 3 weeks. We also don’t offer product refunds, since we can’t resell the products individually. Drops work best with product enthusiasts who know exactly what they want to buy, and would rather buy it with their friends for a better price, than getting it right away from the store (at a higher price).

Is Massdrop an authorized seller of each product, do you offer product warranties?
Massdrop isn’t a store or retailer - we’re an online platform that makes it possible for people to buy together. As a result, our relationship with vendors is less typical than a normal online store. The best way to handle warranties, any product defects or malfunctions should be handled directly with the manufacturer first. If they’re unwilling to honor their product warranty, contact us within the manufacturer’s warranty period and we’ll coordinate the product exchange or repair on your behalf.

What is Massdrop's return policy?
Unfortunately we do not accept returns for the products that you purchase on our site. Since we sell products through our drops, we do not carry inventory and we can’t resell individual items that have been returned. Manufacturers do not allow us to return unsold or returned products. We run all of our drops for seven days so that people signing up for a drop have time to become knowledgeable about the product beforehand, and know what they’re getting. If you’re not sure, ask other people in the group and they’ll help you decide if the product’s right for you!

How do you ship your products?
Products ship from the manufacturer to Massdrop's fulfillment center in a freight shipment. Once they arrive, we immediately package and send the product straight to you using a cost effective courier or postal service. Some manufacturers are willing to ship directly to you, in which case it will skip our warehouse. It depends on the manufacturer and their policies.

i've just whacked it all onto credit cards and hoping i have enough when the bill comes through. HD600, AUNE T1 plus 4 additional tubes, AKG Q701.

i should have bought more than one (don't know if mass drop allows that though) to sell some on at auction, would have pretty much paid for everything if i done that.

Added myself to the drop, pair of white Q701's. Interested to see how they compare to my X1's. Quite excited :D

Someone compared them in the discussion.

Less bass, more mids and a wider soundstage iirc.

These cans are perfect for competitive FPS gaming. They also do well with music too, but it all depends on what type of sound you prefer.

Q701 are a very neutral, almost analytical headphone. Perfect for my ears and set-up :p

time for you to sell yourself so you can get on this deal - you know yourself it's a ridiculous price when you see what it sells for over here

i couldn't say no when i saw the price myself. although the last thing i needed was another pair of headphones.

lol i know that i mean from the massdrop i assumed you had bought all your stuff from there "HD600, AUNE T1 plus 4 additional tubes, AKG Q701"

I got Aune T1 and HD600 from a uk retailer (the same one in fact - flubit)

additional tubes were sourced from ebay and another forum/website by emailing the owner.

massdrop have the older version of the AUNE T1 on sale (the one rids has) I have the MK2 which is £120-£130 over here.

the only thing i have purchased from massdrop has been the AKG's, shipping is far too much on heavy goods, plus i'm now skint lol

the aune x1 pro is a non tube dac/amp with more inputs.

the aune t1 is the tube tac with a solid state amp, only uses USB though for DAC purposes. the x1 has every input you can think of.

Fidelio X1 aren't as perfect as some people make out. First of all I find them hugely microphonic. If you like to move about a lot then don't bother buying them. Microphonics are coming either from the hinges on the cups or from the headband.

I think it might be a tight or loose screw on tthe hinges or as i have long suspected the hammock type headband.

http://www.head-fi.org/t/623013/new-philips-fidelio-x1/3420

It's a headphone which should be used when sitting still.

That one huge issue aside it's a brilliant headphone but £95 for a Q701 is a stupid, stupid price. Paying double for a fidelio X1 IMO would be not worth it. At £180 for the X1 your better off getting flubit to give you an offer on the HD600 (I got mine for £201).

Basically if you like to move about or have a big head forget about the fidelio x1.

Otherwise think about the value for money atm, fidelio x1 doesn't really offer that compared to this deal or the HD600.

It also depends on how much you value bass (x1), neutrality (Q701) or ultimately SQ (HD600)
