Alan Shearer Testimonial ITV4 Thursday

That's all it is, we're the biggest rent-a-crowd in UK football.

Mind you, Shearers name was chanted almost every game for 7 years while Larsson played for us, it was less than complimentary though, we basically claimed he has a fondness for self abuse.

Ive just been up Newcastle today to have a look around in the club shops and they were all heaving with everyone snapping up the Testemonial shirts and programmes, i got 2 programmes 2 pin badges and a testemonial flag (£22 altogether), might get the shirt later on when i go back up, if the still have any that is.

Well done , Freddy Shepherds favourite kind of fan.

Other than the match ticket I dont spend a single pound of my money at Newcastle United.

Good for you, you do know that makes you a bad supporter of the club?

I don't see how what I've said is wrong, you do know there is a difference between a fan and a supporter?

edit- tbh I'm just sick of Vandle's negativity towards the club, it's pretty obvious that Shepherd is in it for the money, most would be. He spends more than most chairman as well, always funding the big transfers. Even if he does make mistakes with managerial selections sometimes it's not entirely his fault, the players have to take a lot more of the critism rather than the manager.

well said I think Freddy is one of the best chairmen in the premireship but he's not perfect I spend loads in the ground and club shops I love the club and dont mind giving my money to the black and white cause.

Shearer is indeed a top bloke! One of the best English strikers ever.

Also, top sig, Cheryl Tweedy is something else.

Exactly, if Shepherd doesn't spend the money the club gets of merchandise etc. then he must use his own money, which would be even better, no?

As for all the cynical fans, just be postive for once, lol. There are too many cynical and fickle Newcastle fans. Just get behind the current squad, manager and chairman, regardless.

How?
Is £500 a year not enough?

Not if you could spare more, I admit that I'm not the greatest supporter. Hell, I can't even get to league games because of work only weekday games. I just think it's a bit cynical not to buy the shirt of your team just because you don't like the chairman.

So Im not a proper supporter because I barely miss a game but you are a real fan because you buy a shirt?
Get a grip man.

Things will never change at NUFC when the happy clappers blindly line the pockets of the chairman while spouting the media hyped Toon Army nonsense.

I don't even buy a shirt so I'm not really a good supporter but I would still class myself as a good fan. I think you are a top fan and I applaud you for going to so many games. I just don't think refusing to give money will help the situation.

You say things will never change while people are throwing money at the club but I really doubt things would really change if everyone stopped other than Shepherd saying there isn't enough money transfers. If people do give money to the club Shepherd will buy players, it's a difficult situation I understand, deciding whether to give money (of which only a small amount will benefit the club) or not spending to prove a point.

Exactly, we played in the Peter Beardsley Testimonial as well...Although he claimed Celtic were his team "Up North" so maybe thats why we were choosen for that particular game.....Any other time it's because we put bums on seats....You could set up a Testimonial somewhere out in the Arctic and we'd still probably sell 25,000 tickets :D

Strachan seems to be taking the Keane and Shearer games a bit too seriously......The 3 lads pulled from the Scotland squad should have gone and been a part of todays 5-1 humping of Bulgaria.....

Anyway, it should be a good game.....My moneys on Celtic though for a win....Unbiased opinion.....Of course ;)
