We were robbed!!!!

Ha!......Nah, didn't expect it to end like that but quite rightly so.....A top class player and it was a good match also.....Atmosphere looked amazing.....

Good stuff :D

what a night... it got to me that like.. shearer did a better job of holding the tears back :p

what a testi match that was.. it was like a cup final... thats how great our club is... the support is always fantastic and seeing all the scarfs fly was amazing, again, obviously everyone was in full voice....

funny game towards the end.. but not a poor game to finish shearers career... nice to see ferdinand get a dodgy goal :)

but it was very emotional and it still hasnt sunk in for me that it was the last time ill see shearer play for us... ive grown up with him playing for 95% of my newcastle supporting life... i just cant see who is going to be the next idol.... it is going to take someone extra extra extra special to do it.... id pay them to have a crack of being the local lad :p

i cant think of anything decent to say to show my appreciation for alan or the club.. im just rambling...

but thanks for everything he has done and i for one will always remember shearer...

and i gotta say i love newcastle utd! :)

What an atmosphere, or so it appeared on TV, all the old lads (Les Ferdinand, Rob Lee, Steve Watson etc) got a great reception, which was again shadowed by Shearers. I hope Bobby Robson's point was valid, and they do make a statue of Alan, he really is a local legend!

i'm guessing the statue will be of him with his right arm raised aloft in his customary fashion, but would be fitting if he had his left elbow raised too ;)

It still feels weird to think that he won't be leading the line next season.

It's just wrong. :(

i know what ya mean gonna miss him, although ironicly i think Asprilla was one of our best ever players!!! what a legend :D

Yeah , he'll probably come on and take a penalty or something.
I saw him on TV the other day training with a ball , he's not a mere mortal I tell thee.

My quote from a couple of days ago. :D

Was a surprisingly good night!
Great send off for the greatest living geordie and as a football thread here would not be right without a FACT , tonight would also have been Jackie Milburns 82nd birthday!
Im sure he and Joe Harvey are toasting the great man in the heavens with a bottle of broon each.

Atmosphere was brilliant and the first half of the game was good , second half a little farcical but that was to be expected.
Id like to say four words about Gary Speed : SHOULD NEVER HAVE LEFT.

Everybody got a scarf as we went through the turnstile and part way through the game everyone was waving them , it sounds lame , but it looked great from my vantage point.
Would loved to looked at it from the Gallowgate to see the bigger stands.

I got my old man to record it with his dvd recorder malarky thing he has and off tomorrow so I'll watch it again.

Fair play to the rent a crowd (copyrite Tru ;) ) they played their part before , during and after the game.
There was some unsavoury stuff going on after the game near Monument metro , dunno what it was about but I hope the lad is ok.

Never will we see this kind of man represent us in the game the way he did.
Its the end of an era and a great geordie icon , he is one of us and for that we should be proud.

Not only was it the lions last appearance at St James for a while it was also mine and I dont mind admitting I had lump in my throat at the end even had a tear in my eye.
I love the man. and I love the club , its my heart and soul.

What a man, what a night.

There has been loads of build up to this in the local press of late but none sum it up better than a taxi driver from Kenton on the radio the other day.

I'll leave the last word on Alan Shearer to this fella being interviewed.

"What would you do if you came home and saw your wife in bed having sex with Alan Shearer?"

"Id put a blanket over him to make sure he wasnt cold"
