Alcohol

personally I think soco is just way to sweet, my favourite whiskey is glenfiddich special reserve 15yr and whiskey is meant to be drunk on its own! :p not with any of this ice or coke lark

I've never understood this to be honest. The only thing I'll drink neat that isn't a shot is brandy after a meal.

I'm a big drinker, but I don't particularly enjoy the taste of any neat spirit. Tequila however, is my God :D

Each to his own I suppose, but I find whiskey tastes best on its own as does brandy, not really a shot drinker :p

Whisky is Scotch Whisky
Whiskey is anything else.

I've had a cupboard full of whisky from various present and prizes. Counted it up a few months ago to find I had:

Litre of Glemorangie
Two bottles of Chivas 12 year old
Bottle of Johhnie Walker Black Label
Bottle of Talisker
Bottle of Glenfiddoch
Bottle of some Isle of Arran blend
Half full bottle of J&B
Quarter full bottle of Haig Dimple (cool bottle :))

And I hardly drunk whisky, tried a Glenfiddoch with ice and it was alright but I couldn't really get to like the others. Then one of my pals was round and he drinks the stuff. Told me to try it with a splash of ice cold water. Wow what a difference as Tesco has said already. Totally different, seem sto release the oils or something. The Talisker has gone from tasting like TCP to tasting something approaching smokey heaven. Really getting to like the stuff now!

I do. 10 yr old is crap. So are 12 yrs. The real deal starts at 15+.

That's a very narrow-minded view to take in my opinion.

The 10 year old Laphroaig quarter cask is particularly good I find.
In fact, my favourite whisky ever (a cask strength hand filtered Macallan) is only 10 years old, it really depends on the distillery and the type of whisky.

I am partial to the Highland Park 18 though :D
