Just read this over at dailyfail

Apparantly Aldi this year are putting some (on reading) what appears to be expensive spirits at heavily discounted prices, according to DF:

Speyside 30-year-old Single Malt Scotch Whisky for £54.99 – a saving of 58 per cent on the £131 price

Armagnac Baron De Lustrac – at £29.99, which is less than one third of the more normal £107 list price.

The range also includes a £17.99 bottle of Tokaji Aszu 6 Puttonyos 2008 , which is a rare and celebrated vintage of a Hungarian dessert wine and won a gold medal at the 2012 International Wine & Spirit Competition.

The range includes non-vintage Grand Cru Champagne NV for £22.99, which is over £20 cheaper than comparable bottles available elsewhere.

There is also a Glen Orrin 30 Year Old Whisky for £54.99, which is up to £80 cheaper than upmarket stockists, plus an Edouard Delaunay Reserve Meursault at £18.99, a Magnum of Prosecco at £15.99, and ‘the world’s best rum’ El Dorado 15 Year Old Rum at £35.99.

Not sure how many of those prices are just inventive or comparing prices to actual expensive spirits but thought it might be worth a mention. I meant to grab a bottle of el dorado last year but missed it.

Their £12.99 Champagne, Veuve Monsigny, is a steal. I can also vouch for their prosecco but was surprised to find their cheaper stuff is nicer than the more expensive. £5 cheap, £7 expensive. They do a very nice Czech pilsner as well.

I like a nice prosecco. Next time I'm down that way (there's an Aldi about 5 minutes walk from me), I must pick up a bottle or 3. Will keep my eye out for the cheap malts too.

I'm going to buy that Magnum of prosecco just so I look like a baller at house parties :D

Aldi are pretty awesome. You can buy a 12 pack of their little french stubbies for less than the cost of a pint in most bars.

Any idea when these are available?

Covenant, my local still has some El Dorado. Its not dropped below £29.99 yet though.

Think it's next Thursday mate, the offers normally cycle sun/thurs afaik

EDIT:
Daily Mail thursday 28th will have a £5 off a £40 spend voucher

Looks like end of line discounting is at store level then - my local ran out months ago. At £29.99 I'd buy it anyway - it's truly one of the best rums you can buy.

If you're into red wine, grab a few bottles of "Minarete" Ribero del Duero - fantastic wine for £5.49

some good reviews, I supply the wine for the family Xmas dinner so may get this as the red( I don't drink red), does it say Aldi anywhere on the label? :p
