Alice in Wonderland

It sounds like the 3D in this is utterly pointless especially if you factor in the 30% color loss from the RealD glasses.

Better to just watch it in 2D surely.

What's all this about distraction? If you are distracted from a film simply by some 3D effects, then you have a very short attention span.

Saw this last week, thought it was ok but nothing special. Perhaps I liked the cartoon version more :(

I'm a fan of TB's films, his style is certainly impressive for the most part. However, I'd have preferred to see Terry Gilliam tackle this particular story, I think Alice really should have a crazy and somewhat twisted approach which I'm not sure TB can bring - he's always been more gothic than straight whacky to me.

Off topic slightly, I still really wish that Sarah Michelle Gellar's version of the American McGhee's Alice was going ahead. Back on topic, having cogitated on the film after seeing it on the weekend, it was definitely an enjoyable affair and I'll likely be purchasing it for the ol' bluray collection. :)

I quite enjoyed it.

It looked fantastic, I thought "wonderland" looked really impressive.

I didn't think much to the 3D though, I thought it was just a gimmick to get people to see the film.

Depp was good as per, Enjoyed the voices as well :D
Really liked the cat :)

Not oustanding, but not bad, somewhere in the middle.

Going to see thsi on Friday, quite looking forward to it to be honest, although the views in this thread dont make it to be a classic

Just come back from watching this.

What a complete crock of **** haha, the missus enjoyed it. The 3D didn't really work at all for me, nothing like Avatars 3D experience.

Just glad its my film choice next! Green Zone babyyy! :)

I was really looking forward to seeing this, but it's one of the most disappointing films I've seen in a long time.

The use of 3D was average at best, Wonderland/Underland was nothing more than a forest with some toadstools in it, CGI was overused and looked far more cartoon/graphic novel than anything remotely life-like and the characters were empty and wooden. Alice especially was played by a girl who'd struggle to get a part in Hollyoaks and even the great Mr Depp brought nothing to The Hatter.

Mrs Burton was pretty good as The Red Queen but that's the only good thing I came away with. Thankfully I went to Nando's afterwards which meant the night wasn't a complete waste of time.
