I saw this film in 3D the other day and I was pretty disappointed really.
The story was terrible (I don't like the original story either though) and jonny depp's part was terrible and annoying, especially that dance at the end. You know when something is trying so hard to be funny you actually feel embarrassed for them?
I enjoyed the 3D aspect though, it was the first 3D film I've seen. However, I think its going to take a while for film directors to get used to directing for 3D. the extra dimension imposes a greater weight on the director to really force the viewer to focus on what he wants them to focus on at any one time. Sometimes i found myself focusing on items in the foreground too early and the illusion was shattered because my eyes expected to bring the item into focus themselves. 3d i think suffers from the "uncanny valley" effect, which is why i think for now at least, its better suited to rendered films like toy story.
