Alien Swarm - free Valve game

My game now refuses to download/launch :(

Unavailable, also keeps suspending my download and not allowing me to continue my DL.

GG Valve, hope it sorts itslef out before I go away tomorrow, by the time I get back no one will be bloody playing anymore.
 
Anyone wanna do some speedruns? Pref you know the maps, we've done the first 4, doing the last 3 now. Steam "Aedus" if you wanna join :)
 
I got my hand in some experience with this game. Hit me up for some games some time (when the Steam servers stop fooling around).

Finished the game on insane, and 6/7 speed runs done the last level is a total bitch though. Then pretty much just weapon achievements left to do, will be brilliant.
 
I just patched (removes stupid ammount of camera shake) and played a great game, we had a person with us called 'mrcaribou' who knew what to do and helped lead us. One thing i noticed though, I play as the medic so was up to me to cure parasites, and when we got parasited I went through a TON of medpacks (took 2 for each parasite infection, sometimes a 3rd after to heal up). I didn't get a chance to try curing with the medic gun as we didn't get parasited after I unlocked it, and this was using the medic with the max parasite cure.

I'm not sure what the best setup is, but when I played through we had a special weapons guy with minigun, tech and myself (medic) with tesla gun and a leader with flamer which worked out well for us. I'm still unsure what the best 'item' is so I just use armour unless we don't have a welder which is when I get that.

Any advice on some 'key' weapons that are amazing to have in a squad would be nice, just so much choice :D
 
Tesla, Flame Thrower, Minigun/Autogun, Vindicator are pretty much the best.

The reason it took so long to cure the parasites is because your mates didn't have the electric armor. Probably a good idea to pick that up on certain levels. I like freeze grenades too, sometimes the hornet barrage as well.

Currently 0.1% have completed jacob's campaign on insane although it was 0% when I did it.

IMO the way to complete insane is to all go tesla cannon(no friendly fire & u can spam it constantly without worrying about ammo), then switch to higher damage weapons for the large aliens. Its difficult to get some people to stop running ahead and getting infested (wasting heals) and stops u able to fire FF weapons.

The Grenade launcher is extremely hard to use without killing yourself or making friendly fire.

What is a fast reload?

I've not managed any speed runs. Its 1:25 for landing area best is 2:30.
 
last nite i completed the last level on insane, i must agree it's a total b**ch to complete.

SPOILERS**

when the bomb was detonated you have 2 minutes to escape. 2 of my comrades were killed by parasites so i was left alone, when you get to the exit be prepared to have weapons and health. awsome game though except for people running off like rambo and getting killed.
 
After spending about 10 mins trying to get into a public game we died after 5 mins. Then some idoit decided to kick me after my first game when its only been out for a day. On the contrary I really like the game, add me if you wanna play some tonight.

Strangely, we did that map first time on insane, we were all pretty shocked, it was the other maps which gave us grief.
