The radio signals will continue to travel until they hit something that absorbs it. There's loads of dust about in space and this will absorb radiation however because radio waves are very long they will pass easily through most of this. It could be possible that someone calculated an average distance radio waves will travel before being absorbed but it would be considerable larger then 1.5light years!

What exactly does a radio signal consist of? Would it be just like receiving a radio signal in the car, so it would just be a normal sound. Or would we only get graphs and stuff from it? (boring)

No, as the radio signals are naturally occurring and are well documented. If you read proper news sources it says they are naturally occurring.

Either way, such signals are quite common, this one only made the news because it was the first this equipment had detected.
