Alienware AW3423DW or LG OLED42C24LA

Chuck this in to the mix too - AW3423DWF - released very soon, is cheaper than the AW3423DW and if you can live without a G-Sync module and a few other things, it might be well worth your consideration.

yeah only £879 but the Gsync version is available for £943 so very little in it.

LG Oled goes as low as £829 though so its the cheapest option. Asus 42PUQ still way north of £1300 so doesnt seem worth it for how much extra you have to pay. The almost £500 saved could be put to a new gfx card to run the new monitor.

The same dilemma here.

I love ultrawide (currently have a Z35p), the curve I can take or leave.

However, I use my monitor for my PS5, Switch, and Xbox Series X, and my 21:9 aspect ratio leaves me with the black bars.

The C2's 16:9 lower aspect ratio would prevent this, and with a noticeably larger screen......however, would I miss the extra aspect ratio?

Price isn't a consideration here. Either way, I have to compromise.

You can run the c2 in 21:9 mode giving you the equivalent of a 40" ultra wide.

With OLED having pitch perfect black, using different aspect ratio custom resolutions wouldn't cause the issue of those greyish "black" bars of LCDs.
And there would be still big image size.

Again QD-OLED has only very mediocre 27" vertical size, if doing same in other direction on that.
(+because of panel structure imageless areas does't show as black, if ambient light hits panel)

Handy but still cant make my mind up!!! lol
Had the same problem after watching it, haha. I started considering the asus but then apparently there are lots of quality issues, and they used matte on their screen killing some of the fidelity

Yeah the huge price premium on the Asus and seeing so many buyers on here onto their second or third monitor already due to failures doesn't install confidence in me, would rather get the £800 LG C2.

But I am not sure i could go back to a 3480 x 1440 screen. i have had a 4k monitor for 5 years and a 3840 x 1600 AW3821 screen for the last two which is still 25% mroe screen pixels than the 1440p UW screen.

The drop from the 4k to 3840 x 1600 I could live with as it is really just a 4k screen with the top and bottom cut off but dropping even more pixels is putting me off.

Think ill try a 42" C2 in the black Friday sales. Might be down to £750 then. can run it at 3840 x 1600 if I want the ultrawide experience and use the full 4k screen for desktop use.

I'm just in costco, I think 4 2 inch seems perfect, maybe 48 at a stretch... The qd led just seems better tech wise, really hard decision.

Lets face it, if there was a QD OLED 120hz 42" TV or 175hz monitor available below £1000 we would all buy that or a 3840 x 1600 QD OLED 38" UW depending whether you prefer 16:9 or 21:9. Once you have gone large, going back just doesnt seem right.

I look at 34" UW screens and they just seem tiny.

currently using two 32" 2560 x 1440 screens at work so an effective 5120 x 1440 screen and thats acceptable for work. the 34" 3440 x 1440 just doesnt have the space to do enough things. Its not high enough res to be really useful for work stuff and just not big enough for the impact when gaming. When I had an IPS 32" 4k screen I could have used it ion 21:9 letterbox mode and would have had the same size screen as the UW monitor had so its a shame to lose all that space and then you end up being asked to pay m.ore for it because its an UW screen. of course with IPS you couldnt use that in letterbox mode, too distracting. With OLED you can get away with it.

Ideally I would love a 32" QD OLED 4k screen. Perfect desktop size but they are a few years away yet I think.
