Alienware m18x or m17x r4?

Alternatively if you give someone off here who wants it the service tag number whilst it's in your basket and then that person phones up dell, I'm pretty sure the sales guy/girl at dell can process the order from the basket.

Might be worth trying.

The belkin 17" slim back pack is the best I have come across so far (also had the targus). It cost me £21, great build quality, fits the 17x nicely (and even the18x at a squeeze) and looks good.

Thanks. Ended up snagging this, and a 10.1" belkin sleeve delivered for 17 quid with the voucher applied. Nice!

I also use this bag, its fantastic for the price. I used to carry both my m17x's in it

Anyone ever heard of Dell changing the time? Popped on randomly at 13.45 today and they had a medium spec m17x R4 with a 900 screen on. Then nothing at the normal time.

Got fed up waiting on the Outlet, never going to find exactly what I want, so went ahead and bought new today. Got the following:

Alienware M17x
3rd Generation Intel® Core™ i7-3630QM (6MB Cache, up to 3.4GHz w/ Turbo Boost 2.0)
8192MB (2x4GB) 1600MHz DDR3 Dual Channel
2GB GDDR5 AMD® Radeon™ HD 7970M
500GB 7,200rpm SATA 3Gb/s HDD
17.3" WideFHD (1920 x 1080) WLED LCD
English Windows® 7 Home Premium (64 BIT)
DVD+/-RW (Read/Write)
Killer Wireless-N 1103 a/g/n 3x3 MIMO with Bluetooth 4.0

£1349 (10% coupon, free delivery coupon), and hopefully about £1270 with 6% cashback if it tracks. I think overall that's a pretty good price.

My only concern is the hard drive. Would have preferred a SSD, but dell are asking £360 extra for one. Is it easy enough to swap in a SSD and reload the OS?

SSD is easy enough to fit, and its easy to re-install the OS, just do an alien respawn to a USB disk and you're all set to go.

£1349 is a good price for the spec, over a £100 less then I paid, but then I did opt for a blue ray drive, which I hardly use anyhow..

If so, it's still doing the rounds. Very strange spec. Why not pay the same for 7970 and £60 more for the 1080P screen, then it's a substantial piece of kit.

Yup that was the one mate. Like i said, saw it at about 13.30, then nothing at the usual time. And if Dell don't put any on at the weekend it must have been put on early, cant have been floating around since Friday could it?

Very strange spec too. Do you think the guy forgot to add the HD screen and cancelled the order?

Quite possibly. It's weird someone would spend £2800 but have the basic screen which is about the cheapest upgrade option . I also think some people have the funds available and just want to take these systems for a test drive for a few days, then send them back under DSR, only having to pay the return P&P

hmmm
Sale rep chat : "The inventory gets refreshed twice a day: 03:00 am and 03:00 pm UK time zone so if you want you can wait may be it might give you more options"
