hi all just swapped out my samsung 5400rpm drive in my laptop for a seagte 7200.1 100gb my temps are 45 under load can u guys post yours to compare.

Any indication as to how this has affected your battery life?

Just ran HDtune a couple of times, room temp is 25-26 C. Temp went up from 29 to 36 C for the HDD.

not yet, only fitted it yesterday not running on battry yet, damn mine is hot ,Manoz what drive are you using?

i used to use the Hitachi E7K60 with my T42, but has since changed to Samsung HM120JC for the added storage.

i can certainly feel the temp difference when i changed. But the battery performance din change much.

do you think 45C is hot for a laptop drive?

I'd say so but it also depends on the rest of your spec cos it could be making the heat and affecting the HDD temp.

i think the performance different is marginal.. but seek times are definitely better..

I've definetely noticed an increase when opening large applications etc, I'd rather have 100GB 7200rpm drive then the highest capacity 5400rpm drive

ok temps got to 54 while in game today going to get laptop cooler, i think the ram is heating the hard drive up as that was also well hot

wow , must have been the ram or chipset heating up the hdd, got one of those akasa black notebook coolers and its lowered the hdd load temp by 20 C :eek:

My 40gb 5400rpm HD is at 45c alone! I want to get a 7200 to boost. Finding a decent normal lappy drive is hard it seams
