All New Summer 2008 Transfer Merry Go Round/Rumour Mill

now we have crap jones (arsenal 7 - 0 boro) please crapgate, do something about it

Wouldn’t mind Rafa signing Philip Lahm, First time I’ve seen him play tonight, Looks fairly good and loves going forward, Exactly what we need.

Is he a poor mans Dani Alves?

lahm wouldn't move but i would love him at liverpool.

Lahm, villa and silva/joaquin would do me this summer. Then id wake up from that dream and eat my cornflakes as we continue to sign mediocrity and potential...

Lahm is unreal, there is no chance in hell that rafa would go for him, too much competition and itd be an inflated chance, but well worth it. Hes amazing.

It would have been nice for him to use the money he was using on Barry(apparently) for Lahm tbh. Doubt he'd still want to come though, Utd or Chelsea would probably pip him from us due to boardroom fanny-abouting.

Man Utd have got registered interest in him but he's said that he's staying at Bayern for at least one more season to see how things progress under Klinsman

Wont be long before he's playing in England though

£31m for anyone isnt a decent buy (unless your name is R....... sorry we arent mentioning him :D)

Only in the sense that for that kind of money they really need to work well in the team they go to - some (like Veron for instance, for £28m or whatever, should have been a decent buy but just never performed in England in two different teams) - Ribery could be a great player over here, but for that kind of money he would HAVE to be

Veron had only really played in Italy, most players struggle coming over to play in England from there.

Ribery has been outstanding in France and Germany now, two leagues that are similar to the pace of the Premiership.

You have to come to terms with that is the current market now, your rarely going to see an attacking player move for less than 20m now who plays for one of the top nations.

If Man City are in for Ronaldinho, I'm surprised Liverpool et al aren't... Torres and Ronaldinho up front.

I know, he has let himself go a little and had a poor season, but you'd still have to think it's worth taking the chance that he might get back to somewhere near his best. My guess would be that clubs are leaving it due to his wage demands, there's no doubt that he is now looking for a huge pay day.

Ribery has only been in Germany one season hasnt he?

Im not knocking anything you have said, but personaly think he needs a couple more seasons before he is worth that kind of money - consistant class is that kind, Im sure he will be that in the future but it would still be a little bit of a gamble at that kinda money

Sadly we have zero money.

Rafa's using his childhood experience of 'footy card collecting' this summer: "5 mediocre players for 1 quality player is a great deal!" :o :D

I wasn't convinced with Ribery when he was in France whilst people here were only too willing to praise him beyond belief, however I must admit, since going to Germany he's been pretty amazing and he's proven me wrong.

Im not disagreeing with that at all - but he still only moved last summer didnt he? So at best he has been great in France and had one good season in Germany - not exactly consistant in Germany yet

He could have course have one or two seasons more over there at the top of his game come over here and do the same - all I mean is that just yet I cant see him being worth £30m + :D
