All Three One Plans to be cancelled from today

How? The APN is switched at Three's end, not on the phone.

There are supposed to be apps that mask the fact that the phone is tethering. I think it depends on what phone it is, and what software it's running. I think rooted android is a lot more flexible, for example.

I never had any issues tethering gb after gb with no tethering allowed
I thought that in past android phones hid it

This really is threes only option

Currently it's looking like GiffGaff have the 'best' plans in place to replace Three. £15/month for 5GB data all of which can be used for tethering or £18/month.. for unlimited data and no tethering at all.
Still a fair bit better than Three's pricing (hell, you can get an unlimited data sim for your phone and a 5GB data sim for a spare phone to use for tethering, and it'll still only be £5/month more expensive than Three's current offerings @ £28 for unlimited everything & 4GB tethering on monthly rolling!)

Are they any good for data these days?

Three do unlimited data on £15/month, 4GB tethering, unlimited texts and 200 minutes. I can't moan at that, I've never used more than 100 mins.

No good for me, I'm anything up to 400/month.
Doesn't stop Three trying to give me a 200/month contract every time I call them up about changing contract (only twice in the last few years), either the buggers are completely blind or they're just trying to screw me for out-of-contract minutes. I'm guessing the latter. ('oh it looks like usually you don't use many minutes, we can give you this 200min/month option' 'but my bill says I used more than 200 minutes for 7 out of my last 12 months' 'well we can upgrade that to our 600minute option if you'd like?' yes I bloody well would like, and don't offer me stupid contracts in the first place! :p)

Giffgaff is the worst - stay away at all costs.
