All time best EPL team?

Exactly my point.

A good solid pro Mr G.Neville, no doubt.

However, picking him purely for ability, hmm.

Anyway, your choice is your choice.

Well as said, picking defence was where I struggled. You could go for a Dixon I guess, solid, dependable etc. But Neville was better going forward and was still fairly reliable, had more to his game.

GK - Schmeichel - No contest
RB - G. Neville -Tw@, but good for so many years
CB - Carvalho - Managed to make Terry look good
CB - Campbell - Imense
LB - Le Saux - A much better defender than Cole and scored more too.
RM - Ronaldo
CM - Scholes - 2nd best player to play in the PL
CM - Vieira - Just pips Keane
LM - Giggs - Probably the best player to play in the PL
CF - Bergkamp - Just special
CF - Shearer - Just scored goals, nothing else but he did it well.

For subs I'd have Flowers, Stam, Berg, Cole, Pires, Keane, Le Tissier & Henry

I only picked him because I couldn't think of any right backs. I don't think the EPL has ever had a "gifted" right back, but Neville is reliable and can play one hell of a long ball.

A few of you have picked your choice based on 'individuals' yet you have still picked G.Neville :D

Problem is when you try to name a better or more consistent player that has played in the EPL - contrary to what some schools of thought hold you don't tend to have a long and successful career at Man Utd without being able to play a bit.

Of contemporary players then sure, I'd take Lilian Thuram in a heartbeat over Gary Neville but he's never played in the EPL so not an option for this particular question.

The choices have got nothing to do with personality or at least not for me, otherwise Ashley Cole wouldn't be near the list, he's a waste of oxygen as a person from what I can tell although he's decent at football.

I mentioned it earlier, there's never been a quality RB to play in this league for more than a few years. Had he not had that horrible illness, Markus Babbel would be a certainty for any EPL 11 imo.

Personally I'd never consider Neville for the fact that he's a **** but I honestly do think Dixon was better than him anyway.

I agree about G.Neville - but I still couldn't pick G.Neville.

I picked Rafael through foresight ...

If he's at United for the next few years he will probably be the best right back in the EPL so far ?

I was about to rant about how bad your selection was, but then realised(With some quick research) who some of the players were. A good joke indeed.

Also more seriously I completely didn't think about JAR, surely he could challenge Cole for LB?

I did this joke and I did it miles funnier thanks.

--------------- Henry -- Henrik Larsson --------------

Giggs ---------- Fabregas -- Alonso ---------- Ronaldo

Stuart Pearce --- V.Jones --- Dave Mackay --- Paul Reaney

---------------------- Schmeichel--------------------

I doubt any striker would wanna play up against my back 4 and would chose just to pass back than try and take them on.

Went for Alonso, Fabregas and Giggs, mainly due to their passing, they could thread a ball through the tightest defence. Alonso would hold back whilst Fabregas went forward. Giggs and Ronaldo could also feel free to attack their wings at will. I may be biased towards king henrik, but i dont care.

Mine has to be, and utilising the incredibly effective in the 5-3-2 formation:

GK:
Massimo Taibi

DF:
Pascal Cygan
Titus Bramble
Jean-Alain Boumsong
Winston Bogarde
William Prunier

MF:
Robbie Savage
Eric Djemba Djemba
Luke Chadwick

FW:
Jon Stead
Robbie Earnshaw

Hard to disagree.

Edit: Gash, didn't see this done earlier. Well it's still the best.

Open to interpretation...I tend not to scan back over the previous pages, especially the dross.....

Unfortunately for you, where I succeeded and clearly where you failed, was the irony that the majority of people's "best" sides where from Man U, Liverpool or Arsenal. Hence my selection.

Thanks :)

There isn't enough room for us to all post **** Villa teams from years gone by :)

You did 3 teams in one post ;)

I was going to say sorry for looking like a tool with that post but I think you took it largely in the spirit of stupidity that I posted it.
