I am looking to buy a 360 but I am worried that it won’t have the games I want.

I enjoy gaming on the PC but I am looking to a console for a different experience. I don’t want any FPS or “WW2” games which are so prevalent on the PC. I also won’t play any racing or sports games. I don’t want Mass effect, Halo 3, GoW, CoD 4 or Bioshock for example.
I am worried the games on the 360 will be too similar to the kind of games on the PC which I already play.

I guess you could say I am looking into more alternative/platformer style games. I like the look of Kameo, Ninja Gaiden 2, Guitar hero. Thinking back further it would include the Tomb raider, Prince of Persia, Final fantasy games as well.

I saw this thread ( http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17805296 ) and pretty much the only game that is mentioned is Kameo.

As far as the other consoles go the PS3 is expensive and seems to target the same audience as the 360. The Wii would seem like the logical choice but coming from a PC the outdated graphics is going to be a big detractor. Also I would assume the Wii would miss out on big multi-platform games and the main games would be the same that always come from Nintendo, like Mario and Zelda?
Plus the 360 has a VGA cable for my monitor, the controller can be used on the PC and many people at work play on Xbox live.

Would the 360 give those sorts of games or are the main releases going to be shooters?

Crackdown is a shooter, but a very alternative shooter :)

If you can get it cheap second hand I'd certainly recommend it, get a mate playing co-op on Live and you'll laugh harder than you're sorted.

:edit: Ignore me, I don't actually read threads - I presumed you had a 360 already :p

To answer your question, no, the 360 doesn't really have many of those sorts of games.

I think the 360 has a very broad range of different kind of games, this is what makes it so appealable to different ages and sex. I can't really go into listing all the games available but if you were to look at reviews on ign, gamespot etc then you'll see the wide variety of games are available, of course a lot are FPS which you don't want but there are alternatives that you require.

IMO the PS3 would offer you a more varied selection of games to suit your taste, but you can't connect it up to your monitor via vga so your probabley better off looking at the Wii.

Although they're kinda aimed at the same audience it sounds like the PS3 would suit you better as it tends to offer more RPG style games than the XBOX (Blue Dragon is about the only FF7 style game around atm). Or save a bucket load of cash and get a PS2 :)

I have a PS2 already, in fact I have been playing Final Fantasy 12 recently which is what reminded me about all the types of games which just don't work on a PC.

From the comments it sounds like I would be better off with a PS3/Wii but it's still tempting to get a 360 :o

It's simple really, if you want to play Halo, Mass Effect and PGR4 get a 360, if you want to play Final Fantasy XIII, Metal Gear Solid 4, Gran Turismo 5 get a PS3. If you want to prance about like a baboon in your front room get a Wii.

(Last one was a joke btw) :p
