basically, sticking to the speed limit saves peoples lives.. Me mate today got hit by a car going 45 in a 30 area. It was so bad, hes ok now though. He is ****ing lucky that hes alive. If the car was going 30 it would have been no where near as bad. Just think if you were the driver, how you would be feeling. So basically stick to the speed limit in 30 roads and reasonable speeds in others

to be fair he didnt look out.. but he walked out, saw the car, tried to run out the way.. if the driver was goin 30 he could have easily run forward in time, but no, it was just a clean hit, flew through the air a few meters and landed on the road

speed is not the sole factor, the vehicle involved makes a huge difference,

hit by a HGV @ 45 is far worse than being hit by a yarris!

if the driver had been going 55 then he would have been past before your muppet mate walked out.

Not neccesarily it doesn't, no.

Me mate today got hit by a car going 45 in a 30 area. It was so bad, hes ok now though.

Was he using a proper crossing? Did the car ignore stopping at the zebra crossing or ignore the red lights on a light controlled crossing?

If the car was going 30 it would have been no where near as bad. Just think if you were the driver, how you would be feeling. So basically stick to the speed limit in 30 roads and reasonable speeds in others

Alternatively, pedestrians could think before wandering into the road?

to be fair he didnt look out..

So rather than posting this in GD with the title "Always look before you walk into the road..." you put it here in Motors... when it's actually not really anything to do with the motorist, because your mate was too stupid to not do the things I was taught at about age 4... to look where you're going and not walk out into the road.

Just think if you were the driver, how you would be feeling.

I'd be feeling extremely annoyed at him for stepping into the road without looking, and leaving a dent in my car.

to be fair he didnt look out..

Then he is a grade A idiot.

if the driver was goin 30 he could have easily run forward in time

If your mate looked where he was going and didn't walk into the road, then it doesn't matter if the car was doing 20, or 120, he wouldn't have got run over.

Instead of coming in here and preaching about sticking to speed limits, how about preaching to your obviously moronic friends about not walking into a road without looking

so the pedestrian walked in front of a car and its the cars fault...?

this is like the blanket 20mph speed limit that is starting to be forced onto cities... because of people walking about.

well in my day kids was taught how to cross the road and look both ways etc. but now we just walk out and make the speed limit so low that it takes 5minutes for the driver to even hit you.......

Good old Britain...

I was in a mates car on Friday night, when some guy just walked straight out into the road.

My mate stopped and the guy just stared at him as though the car shouldn't have been on the road.

Some people are so stupid :D
