No, you are not a grumpy old whinger. Her attitude sucks.

People make mistakes - I've got a scrape on my passenger seat from my GF's bag or something - but the whole 'it doesnt matter, its only a car' attitude deserves rage.

You must really love her after dent-gate. ;)

I've got a crap car so not really fussed what the girlfriend does but she still respects it as its my property and not hers.

My girlfriend's attitude sucks re the car. She has bashed her door open into a fence, bashed it open into another car in a car park (resulting in major rage and not talking for a couple of days), set sandy shoes down on the boot, scratched the passenger door card, looks at me with incredulity when I ask her not to eat a flaming pasta pot whilst I am driving (she ignored me and ate it, proceeding to leave it in the hot car whilst we were on the beach, cue stinky car) and more.

She also has a major issue with me spending any money / time on the car. The phrase 'it is only a ******** car' is heard WAY too often :(.

Edit - oh and lashing stuff in the boot with no regard to the safety of my subs .

I seriously think that when women say 'it's only a car' etc, then we should mess up their shoes, or coats, handbags etc and say exactly the same thing back. I can see it now:

"What are you doing? that coat cost me £250!"
"And? My car cost me 7 grand. It's only a coat"

Don't think I could actually put up with that. She would be gone for real

Am I crazy? or is that just?
It's not easy! This is all over the course of a couple of years though, it's not a constant thing (apart from her dislike of me wanting to spend time and money on the car, that is ongoing) so it's not actually as bad as I make it out.

She doesn't own a car herself (or indeed anything worth more than her hair straighteners) and can be quite immature when it comes to money. I'm hoping she will grow up a bit when she buys her own house / car and realises that expensive stuff is to be looked after!

An ex was deposited at the side of a Dual Carriageway for saying "Its only a car" She was literally dumped on the spot.

My wife occasionally shuts the door a bit hard, but thats it tbh.

Apart from leaving it in a bit of a tip (Uni books everywhere) the girlfriend is quite respectful of the car.
