Am I getting old?

I'm 29, can't remember the last time I was drunk. From leaving school, I spent about 6-7 years drinking all my wages away. Makes me feel sick when I think about how much money I've wasted. Now I don't get drunk. If I go out, it's for a few. Possible couple of beers in the house per month. Amazing! Now I have plenty of other things to waste money on.

I dunno, it happened to me about the same time, virtually over night.
When I was low 20s I could do 3 or 4 days no problem. Quite quickly after my 27th'ish birthday my hangover became unbearable.

Exercise and healthy eating is the key. When I was 18 I did neither and had horrible hangovers. Now I can happily do a night out and be reasonably fine the day after, just tired. Obviously if spirits are involved it worse but that's expected. ~6-8 pints, im all good and even manage to get up for the gym in the morning

Ibiza next year should certainly sort the men from the boys

I have had in total this year 16 alcoholic beverages; I do like to have a drink but I also prioritise, kids first for me. If there is something wrong somewhere you have your priorities all wrong, I suggest a cut in the drink intake before you do damage you can't walk away from. Either that or leave your liver as a doorstop in your will.

I hardly drink anymore, to be honest I cant stand the feeling, its ok at first, but slowly deteriorates to feeling horrible, banging headache, dodgy stomach and don't get me started about when your at home and trying to sleep, feel so horrible, and the next day, urgh

Didn't used to be so bad when I was younger but these days I generally can't stand it so much

I don't like the taste of lager after the first few pints, if I drink it will probably be spirits of some sort or flavored cider

If your on a night out at a club event generally I wont drink, you can't last from 8pm > 6 or 7am on drink. By 1-2am you will feel sick and just want to sleep.

It does take longer to recover when you get older but it is very odd how it works. I can go out, like I did last Friday, drink masses of beer and spirits and feel fine the next morning, like I haven't even had a drink. I can also have a glass of wine on a Wednesday and feel like death on Thursday morning, it is not science.

What I find is I get very dehydrated these days and that has a massive impact on how I feel the next day. I need to ensure I hydrate effectively but if I get up with a hangover I am out the game for that day where as 2 hours as a youth saw me ready for another beer.

keep it up, eventually your body will get used to the volumes of alcohol you're drinking and all hangovers will disappear. In fact studies* have shown that the body learns to break down alcoholic contents of beer/spirits into nutritional goodness.

Hogswallop, your liver actually gets less efficient at processing alcohol the more you drink, it releases more acetaldehyde and uses more energy.

I told my mrs that one of her twitbook friends was a hottie - she told her

Her reply was that i am old enough to be her dad - not the response i was hoping for ;)

Now that made me feel old..............and a little bit creepy :(

Have a digital hi five good sir! :D

Everyone does not handle alcohol in the same way - genetics plays a part and some people get much worse hangovers than others. Also it could be a sign of another health related issue for example developing IBS, so it might be worth talking to an actual Doctor.

Have you changed anything else in your diet/lifestyle? Usually a good idea to line your stomach with some solid food before drinking and rehydrating with a pint of water afterwards. Maybe try drinking something more wholesome like real ale rather than those nasty kiddie drinks ;)

It's either that or cut down...

Old is in your head. I'm 29, sat here with happy hardcore Dreamscape mix on as I have the day off. Today's plans extend to a haircut, meeting people from work for a pub lunch and buying some limes for 8 desperado's I have in the fridge for later before going to this 11pm-6am event

stay young

I think you're old and in denial....... If you were young, you wouldn't need to take a day off to prepare for this ;)

I'm 26 and recently had to go to the doctor's because of back pain, and she informed me I'm likely to continue to have problems with it occassionally... That made me feel old. :(:p
