Ok, so I was talking to the missus about ****-take nursery rhymes, and now I appear to be some sort of utter lunatic (even more so than usual). I'm sure there was a version of the "3 in the bed and the little one said..." rhyme that actually went along the lines of "....and one fell out, and he bumped his head and his brain fell out...".

This is being flatly denied by herself.

Please GD, either put me out of my misery or sign my restraining order!

Thanks.

P.S. I know that since this is an evening post, it will be graced with the finest of sensible responses, thanks guys :P.

umm i'm gonna go with the lunatic vote... :P don't remember hearing that version as a kid. Sounds like something kids might make up in the playground though.

It is "bashed his brains and his guts fell out" - " please remember, to tie a knot in your pyjamas, single beds are only made for 1..2..3..4...5 in the bed...."

and so on and so forth.

The version I most fondly remember goes:

...and one fell out, he bumped his head and gave a shout;
[To the tune of Rule Britannia]
"Pleeeeease remember; marmalade and jam.
Three pork sausages for my old man."

Haha! Had totally forgotten about that 'til now.

I woke up in the morning, scratching my belly,
Did a great fart and I blew up the telly,

Wooooooah, wooooooah! BUM DISEASE.
MMMM MMMM that's right!

I woke up in the morning with a funny feeling,
Did a great fart and I blew up the ceiling,

Wooooooooah, woooooooooah! BUM DISEASE.
Mmmm mmmmm that's nice.

So had I, until I read your post. I don't recall the lyrics, but I do recall the abrupt shift to the tune of Rule Brittania. My memory is very vague - I think the context is me as a small boy and my father doing the "Rule Britannia" version for a laugh. Maybe it's an older version, from his childhood.

The version I most fondly remember goes:

Ours went..

...and one fell out, he give a little cry and gave a little shout;
[not quite the tune of Rule Britannia]
"Pleeeeease remember;to tie a knot in you pyjamas.
Single beds were only made for 1, 2, 3 in a bed....

Haha! Had totally forgotten about that 'til now.

Can't get it out of my head now.:)
