Bit annoying, I have a 360hz HDR monitor but it's not 4k. I have a 4k tv, but its only 60hz and no HDR.
Can't see why HDR would be blocked on lower resolutions, what's the rationale for that?
Am I missing out not using a 4k HDR Monitor (Xbox Series X)

I doubt it, afaik most 4K "HDR" monitors struggle to do actual HDR, they might have a HDR mode but the technology needed is not present (ie. they have edge lighting and 400-500nit panels). For HDR on an LCD you need local dimming otherwise the picture will wash out. TV's are well ahead of monitors when it comes to HDR but at the same time there also a lot that are HDR marketed but lack the technology. For HDR you really need to do research into whether it's locally dimmed and what the peak brightness is, If it's edge lit chances are HDR will be garbage. I mean you might be impressed if you've never seen real HDR but an OLED or 1000nit or more locally dimmed TV is what it is really about. An edge lit LCD display simply can't maintain deep blacks whilst pushing extreme brightness.

It does and thats why I ended up with a CX48 upstairs for the PC and a CX55 downstairs for the PS5

Yes I do so I have static windows on there all day for 12 to 13 hours at a time, 4 days a week. Been about 5 months now and its still like the day I bought it.

Thats interesting thanks for letting me know. Do you use any apps to split up the screen or do you just go for full fat, right in front of my eyeballs 48 inches of 4K desktop glory? Any settings tweaked on the TV or Windows to cater for such a large screen in a Windows desktop environment and to prevent screen burn at all?
I've been waiting for a smaller version to be released such as a 42" but it just doesn't seem to be happening

I have 3 or 4 programs open so the screen is split into 3 or 4 but its very much "maxed out" so to speak. Im going back in office next week so it was never a full time thing though.

Ok thanks, I'm going to hold off and be patient for the 42" release if I end up combining it for work use, I think 48" will likely be too big

I had a samsung 40" as my monitor and it was just too big. Ended up going back to 27". Great for those who can adjust to it.

I dare you to say that in the GPU section of the forums you will be shot down in flames. Go to specsavers, etc.
Personally though I think he is missing out on HDR and big screen experience of a console. Like the minimum sized tv anyone should be buying these days is 55 inch or if they are truly limited by space 43 inch. The bigger the better though. Most folk are getting 65 inch or 75 inch sets these days if you are an enthusiast. If I had to choose bigger screen is better for console.
Also doesn't the console do fake 4K upscaled to hit 120hz on more demanding games? Or will it simply just lock to 60fps to hit true 4K res?
To be fair the people posting in the GPU sub forum are much more likely to understand motion resolution compared to the dumdum responses I’ve seen people post in here.

I do have a decent Sony 55" in the bedroom but there's no way I'll get away with gaming in there any more.
I'm just wondering if the 43X85J would be worth it now over my 32" Samsung odyssey G7. I'm probably better off waiting for the 43" OLED from LG next year.

They have already made the panel for monitor companies to make for pc gaming
I would only be looking to buy OLED for any new monitor or TV. The HDR, black level, and pixel response time completely trash even the very best LED panels.

Yeah it's what I want but LG won't be releasing it for another year and then I'll need to wait for the best time to buy which is January/February. Which is a circa 18 month wait a long time without a screen to get the full experience.
I'll probably tough it out on the monitor until then. It's not as if the monitor I have will look terrible it's got decent enough HDR and has FALD albeit not a lot of zones.
The TV in the room is a top of the range set. However it's only 8 bit with dithering for HDR and that's the best you could get in 43" at the time. Unfortunately proper HDR starts at 50-55 inch which I have in the bedroom.
