Am I the only person who doesnt care about fan noise?

you can by fanless passive coolers. If your really that fastidious, I'm sure you can get passive cooled PSU's too. you will want to leave the side off your case though... Again, all these reasons lead me to not giving a damn about a bit of fan noise.
 
Depends. My pc is in the lounge and hence I like no noise if surfing, general stuff.

When gaming its either 500W of surround sound (no chance of hearing a helicopter landing in the garden) or headphones.

SO i dont care how noisy a card(s) is when gaming but I do when not gaming.
 
I don't mind a bit of noise during gaming (as mainly wear a headset or speakers up fairly loud) but what I *do* like is that my system is dead silent during normal use (browsing/TV shows/Movies etc).

I love that about my sys, powerful as hell but almost absolute silence when I want it :cool:

Yeah same here. Having the cpu and both cards under water and an excess of rads means I can switch off all the fans when surfing and just be passive.

only noise is the faint hum of the pumps.

Nice :cool:

A combination of the Define S being fairly well soundproofed and running the Predator pump and fans @ 20% at idle means I don't even hear the pump at all!!! :D

Looking forward to putting a pair of 1080Ti's under water with it too :cool:
 
I hate fan noise, don't use headphones often as I prefer the all around sound from good speakers. I tend to change any fan that makes too much noise.
I'm about to fit my 980Tis with the G10/H55 mod to keep temp and fan noise low.
I even have Sky coming to try to fix my loud fan in the Sky Q box! they won't of course.

I never used to be bothered about fan noise, until I started reading on here all the time :D

I guess I didn't realise fan noise varied so much until I started looking into it. I just assumed all GPUs and coolers were much of a muchness. How wrong I was.

For my new recent gaming build from scratch I decided to make silence a tip top priority, and got absolutely obsessed by it. Now running AIO coolers on the CPU and DIY (NZXT and n980 brackets) on 2x 980Ti's and went through about 6 different brands of fans for the radiators and 6 or more different combinations of placement/ intake/ outake combos. Took me weeks on and off to perfect it but I now have a **** hot (read cool) really quiet build that I geekily very proud of.

My PC is at the back of our living room (it's very long). I have to care about fan noise if I don't want a shoe in the back of my head :o
 
I'm obsessive about it. I spent £60 on Noctua case fans and run them at 5V. The cheap Fractal ones that came with my case made various unpleasant noises no matter what voltage I used.

I can't be the only person who doesn't give two damns about fan noise? Once my headphones go on when I'm gaming (how many of us don't use a headset?) I cant hear anything to do with the tower.

Im just amazed at how much of an important thing this is to so many people? Are we not seeing the woods for the trees? Is it really that important? Im sure to some it is for one reason or another. But im just amazed at how highly it ranks in peoples eyes.

Another one is power draw, or performance per watt. This is literally used in the top 3 things when marketing a card.

I don't give a damn again how much power my card draws (within reason). I want the best FPS for the money.

Ahh well, just rambling on and thinking out loud really. Just curious as to the reason behind someone choosing one gpu over another because it is 1dB quieter than another. to then whack on gaming headphones and crank the volume up to the max lol.

Well excuse me for having a career in Twitch streaming where I want to eliminate as much noise as possible :mad:

Only kidding but whilst you have a point it depends on people's builds. If you want to isolate yourself in a room then noise probably wont matter but if you have a living room mitx build then you'd want a quiet/silent PC.

Additionally gaming at night and having the fans at full ramp can be intrusive, so different strokes for different folks. I prefer silence so I care about fan noise. :p
 
The last thing I want is waking up any kids. I do use headphones so noise in the same room is of little concern, but set to 100% my Gcard would wake up my son, or at the very least annoy my wife.
 
I doesn't bother me one bit, first thing I do when playing games is set my mother board fan profile to Turbo and put my GPU's at 100% :)
 
Eliminating noise (of any origin) is one of my top priorities.

If I can hear a fan, it's too loud :p

I'm just about to move my PC into new, smaller, quieter case. Some Noctua "ultra low noise" fans will be replacing the stock ones too :p
